Dear Souce....

What does your BIL do in Finance? I'm a Financial Analyst and my focus is more around FP&A and financial operations in manufacturing. If your BIL works in the banking/investment side of Finance I'm curious to hear what he hates.
I believe he works in bonds but don't quote me on that. He's worked several different places. Worked for Raymond James at one point.

i hated finance class but i should've gone into banking. Could've made an ass load more money. My brother in law works in finance and he continually hates his job though.
I couldn't be an investment advisor, because they basically make their living by selling stuff with lots of fees (that are their income) which reduce the investor's income. We're doing fine with dirt-cheap index funds from Vanguard and no advisor.

Wow, with all the slams on federal employees... We always had meetings scheduled on Fridays (and Mondays), and they were pretty much mandatory attendance. (I did not blow off meetings where I reported to the Asheville VAMC director and the chief of staff, lol.) I found time to keep an eye on VN, but I worked through the day, because I had plenty of work to do, and no one else knew how to do it. There is no way on God's green earth that I could have napped or gone to the gym. When I was at San Francisco, we couldn't even go off campus for lunch unless for a special occasion (yearly staff luncheon, etc.)

Not saying that we were virtuous or anything, but interesting (to me) reality compared to the usual crap written about public servants.

If this was a camper you could drive then you could drive it on a big pontoon boat like in the picture. Then if the pontoon could drive I would go find a little island and stick a flag on it. Drive my rv on it to the middle of the little island and live there. We have little islands like that on our lake nooga. It would be the chit.

I used to dream, when my three kids were teenagers (all three within four and a half years) that when the last one was gone, I would buy a pontoon boat, anchor it in the middle of a lake, with a dog, a cat, a potted houseplant, and a shotgun, and no one would visit unless I really, really wanted them to.

Awesome. I would recommend a Venice fly trap and a small island.

A potted plant eh? Or a pot plant? Sounds like a plan.
