I don't know if you know Mickey personally, but he was absolutely awful as a radio show host. We all have strengths and weaknesses. One of his weaknesses was being a radio show host.

Just to be clear, broadcasting the basketball games does not pay very much at all, he does it because he enjoys it.

The cluster let go of four total employees, three of them on air on the various stations, he was just the most high profile of them.

Uh.....I don't know.....maybe....sometimes. I've seen some really good people laid off or fired simply because they made an above average salary and the company was trying to aggressively increase profit for the shareholders. There is greater career risk when a company can hire three for the price of one. Not saying that is the case. Just hate to see 60+ year old people lose their job. Normally cannot replace the income or benefits.

Are all UT play-by-play broadcasters considered to be UT employees and therefore representatives of the University???

Selected by or with the university, but they are "employees" of The Vol Network which is part of IMG which bought Host.

MD is the only broadcaster that could make me miss Bob Kesling. He was/is awful. imnsho
