Yes if it were not for Tennessee they would be Mexas instead of Texas.Don't want to take the time to look it up but Tenneesse bacame a University around 20 to 30 years before Texas became a University! Not just that but Texas would now be University of Mexico if not for Tennessee fighters saving them!!
The conferences really don't like deferring decisions as important as who plays in their championship game to an outside party. Which is what ranking systems and polls are.Pretty sure it would be the 2 highest ranked playing the the conference championship
Hate agreeing with you. But I do.Well, don’t get your hopes too high for that. How about UGA vs the real UT in an SEC Championship? Obviously I’m referring to the UT from the great state of Tennessee.
Don’t get me wrong, I want to destroy the Vols every time we play. Apologies, but it’s just CFB ptsd from being a GA fan in the 90’s! I can’t help it. But I’m not gonna sit here and watch some new narcissistic conference member come in claim things they haven’t earned. UT is the Vols. Sure, overall I hate them, in a football sense, but I love to hate them. Screw Texas!!!! I mean really SCREW TEXAS!!!! That’s all I have to say, aside from, you Vols are my UT, and bc it’s not a Fall weekend, I hope you all have a great weekend. .
Yep don't need media biases playing into who goes to SECCG. In Birmingham, they're probably praying that they don't have a bunch of 10-2 teams tied at the top.The conferences really don't like deferring decisions as important as who plays in their championship game to an outside party. Which is what ranking systems and polls are.
I think we'll see a series of tie-breaker rules enacted that will sound pretty similar to what used to exist for division tie-breakers.
If there's a reference to rankings, like the CFP or AP Poll, it will come waaaaay down the list at the bottom, after everything else has been tried.
Go Vols!
Not sure if it’s the same but in 2003 that was the reason why UGA was awarded the appearance in the championship game when it was a 3 way tie.The conferences really don't like deferring decisions as important as who plays in their championship game to an outside party. Which is what ranking systems and polls are.

Yah, it was the seventh tie-breaker rule. There were six rules before that, but we, UGa, and Florida had all tied in every one of those tiebreaker rules, lol.Not sure if it’s the same but in 2003 that was the reason why UGA was awarded the appearance in the championship game when it was a 3 way tie.
This season, if Florida, Georgia and Tennessee all win the remainder of their SEC games, then all three teams would be tied for the Eastern Division Championship. In the SEC Divisional Tie-Breaker, the three teams would remain tied through the first six procedures in the tie-breaker. [emphasis added]
Tiebreakers should be decided upon prior to the season.Yah, it was the seventh tie-breaker rule. There were six rules before that, but we, UGa, and Florida had all tied in every one of those tiebreaker rules, lol.
That's what I meant when I said any use of rankings would come waaaaay down at the end of a long list of tie-breaker rules that are internal to the conference.
