With the two schools being so close to MTSU, and Maryville playing a team from Nashville, there should be a higher than normal turnout for the 4A and 5A games.

Smyrna sure did get lucky to win the state championship, that's for sure.

i gave you a little time to say something to bruno about it and you didn't. I took it. :p

Obviously, smyrna is very talented again this year. Luck had no more to do with this state title than any other team that wins a state football championship anywhere this year.

Every team has luck.. some just more than others. Look at us in '98 and Florida this past year. Two of the luckiest NC's out there. It will still be hard to convince me the best team was the actual state champion - but probably 50% of the time, probably more, the best team doesn't win it all in most sports with a playoff.

no no.. we all understand that smyrna sucks. They're awful. A pitiful excuse for state champions. However, they're now a back-to-back pitiful excuse for state champions.

I've seen Maplewood and Independence play. Independence is a much better team than Maplewood and after watching the games yesterday, I think Smyrna would beat Maryville.
Also, Smyrna won the games they had to so they are the best team in 5-a. I think they also proved they aren't a two man show yesterday.

I've seen Maplewood and Independence play and Indy is better. Maplewood runs such a simple offense and have no depth. If they have more than 33 players on their team, they could have beaten Maryville. Smyrna would be very capable of beating Maryville.

Once Maryville jumps to 5-a they will not dominate like they are doing now. They will still win titles but there is no way they go 7 out of 8 years.

Maryville didn't even play that well yesterday. If they would have played Smyrna, they would have played better and would have certainly won.

And what does Independence have to do with anything? What a lame arguement.

I can't wait until Maryville likely gets moved to 5A in '09. Instead of playing speedy, athletic minority schools like Memphis East and Maplewood in the title game, they'd play some highly caucasian McMansion school from Williamson county.

The fact that Indy was spanked by Smyrna yesterday. I have seen both teams play and Indy is better. Thats what it has to do with it. Maryville struggled to pull away from a team with 33 players and Maryville has 5a enrollment right now. How do you know Maryville would have played better against Smyrna?

Do you think Maryville would have 60 straight wins in 5-a with 4 straigth titles?

You realize those Williamson County schools play Nashville teams in the early rounds of the playoffs and have to play a Memphis team in the semi's.

Maryville half-assed it. If you think there was any chance of Maplewood winning that game, you know nothing about football. Period.

I don't know if Maryville would have the same success, but 5A isn't obviously better than 4A, by no means.

Why wouldn't I realize that? I said Maryville would spank any 5A team from Williamson county.
