Guys, I have somewhat resigned myself to the having a defense heavy class. I am ok with that. Defense wins championships, period. I honestly believe that with CMK & CEO on point we can rebuild through defense. I think Chaney needs to show something on the field before the O recruits will come.

I figured that too. Our coaches on D have proven more to recruits than our O coaches.

Monte- best defensive mind in the game

Coach O- Best DL coach in the nation

Thompson- Look at the Bama LBs

WMG- TCU DBs. The only ?

So I would expect us to be stronger with D recruits early

Defense will always keep you in the game. Hell we seen that this year. If we wouldn't have turn the ball over so much we would have one a few more.

Are you sure that we're not just experiencing a calm before the storm effect on the offensive side...like maybe they'll come if and when we land a big time QB recruit...

Regardless...we can't afford to not land 4-6 OL's...we just can't...if not from a talent perspective then from a pure numbers perspective...we just won't have the bodies in 2010 without several commits this year

If the offense can't score, you can't win though...

With the improved OL Chaney, Cregg, and Browning are sure to produce, I don't see how our offense won't be better. Even with last year's pathetic group, we still beat UCLA if Fulmer/Clawson decide to turn about 15 of Crompton's passes into running plays. Wyoming, come on. Auburn... gain 15 yards in the second half or don't fumble in the endzone. That would have given us 8 wins and a chance for another one in a bowl game.

you will see several D-Line guys moved to the O-Line, book it.

W.Michigan was 9th in total defense and 13th in passing defense when he was there. He was the DC for North Dakota St when they went 10-1. TCU won Conference USA while he was there. I think Willie Mack will be a great coach for us.

You mean like at Purdue?

Defense will keep you in a game for as long as they can until they just get tired from playing after every third snap. As we proved time and time again last season. Defense does and will always win you championships but if you dont have some what of and offense like utvols said, you not gonna win many outside of the ones your suppose to win. We should be a lot better on O this season now that we are away from the spread blocking scheme and back to man on man blocking. In no way am I saying that we will go undefeated but I am saying that what happened later year wont repeat its self. 8-4

If we don't bring a better offense to the field this year I'm gonna quit watching. I can't take it anymore. (That's a lie of course.)

From my perspective, we had some huge basics missing last year. I just don't see this coaching staff allowing that.

the current recruits dont care about Purdue, they want to see whats on Shields-Watkins.

What effect will the offense this year have on some offensive recruits on Feb 4-6th, 2010(whatever day signing day is)...

I mean...what chance is there of big time recruits seeing a successful offense this year then breaking commits to other programs to come here (I know that seems like a two part question...but I'm talking strictly recruiting...not what chance is there that our offense is good this year)

If our offense looks good on the field.. fingers crossed we will get a lot of recruits to swing our way.

The offensive recruits will come. Its just not the slam dunk that it is for the defensive guys. We don't have a Monte Kiffin and Ed Orgeron on the offensive side of the ball. Chaney looks to be a good coach, but he certainly does not have the pull that Monte and CEO do.

Regardless, the offensive guys will start shaping up. Still over 7 months till signing day.

And We would still be stuck with another year of CPF!!:banghead2:

Willie Mack Garza was an All-American at Texas. He knows the position, and as Syclone Joe pointed out, his teams have had good performances since he joined the coaching ranks.

It also doesn't hurt that he has Eric Berry to coach his first year. That's an incredible asset for him to start with.
