I am very excited with what CDD is doing so far with recruiting. It is truly amazing with the short amount of time he has had. But I am concernced about DT's. We lost both of our starters and we have Brown and Copeland signed, which would be great but they both might not end up being a part of this class.

I'm just curious, are we going to sign other DT's? Because we need a lot of depth there and only having two possible commits makes me nervous.

Please don't take this thread as a panic or bashing thread. I really like the direction of our program, but all the recruiting predictions are completely leaving out DT's and I think that is a problem.

I agree with you. Unfortunately I don't have any answers for you. They call TN Football a religion for a reason because "you gotta have faith".

Amen. This is the area that concerns me. I know we need OL as well, but at least we have a few of them committed and are probably going to get a few more. We have one DT committed and I hear he might not even qualify academically. This is scary IMO.

If Copeland bolts for LSU or SCarolina. We are screwed, no doubt about it. Why we arent going after Calvin Smith? Has he totally dropped UT?

I know we are going after him, but I don't know if he will sign with us or not.

Calvin Smith might be our only shot, unless we can find a couple 3* DT's out there that have been passed over. I don't get these guys. If I was a DT and I wanted to go to a big time program where I could possibly get early playing time, I would be all over Tennessee.

I agree with this post, but it does look like we will be moving to a 3-4 with all the linebackers we are recruiting. That means we wouldn't need as many interior DL, but it would nice to have a few....

whats the status of john brown? is he not gonna qualify or is he looking somewhere else?

All we have returning is marlon walls and Montori Hughes, regardless, I think they will be studs with some good coaching.

The pickin's getting pretty slim for DT's. We must retain John Brown and J.C. Copeland. Copeland is a DE but should turn into a tackle. We really need to pick up Calvin Smith. If we don't get Smith then I think we should save a spot for a lower tier DT. The question is, which one? There aren't many left to pick over. There is a 3* Lousianna tackle named Churphy Steward with an offer from LA Tech that has interest in us according to Rivals. I think Dooley should tell him if we have 26 players at 5:00PM on NSD and no more tackles, he gets an offer.

Yes, but you need a heck of a nose tackle for a three four, and that we ain't got..,
