Former Vol baseball skipper Rod Delmonico is in Mobile, Al. today to interview for the South Alabama job that will be open after longtime coach Kittrell's retirement next season. The newspaper article alluded to Coach Rod being UT's all time winningest coach---and reminded me how issed I was when MH let him go. USA had better jump at the chance to hire Delmonico-----there aren't any better coaches out there---IMO.

That's interesting.

USA actually has a decent history in baseball. I think they can do better than Delmonico for sure.

TR's cronies are out in force this am. Delmonico was forced out after one (1) poor season. And Todd has done what? Rod may be somewhat an ass, but he knows the game.

coach d was fired because of his record in the sec. it was a losing record in the number of years he was here. he had numerous years to correct this and did not succeed. tr is on the fast track to his fate also. i'll say that one more season without at least making the sec tourament will do him in. four years is plenty of time to turn this program around and he hasn't come through !!!

Before you ever accuse me of being a cronie for Todd Raleigh, do some research.

Dude is inept.

But Rod was no where near the best coach in Knoxville even in his prime.

Delmonico was fired after two frustrating seasons with a roster full of top tier talent including 3 first round draft picks.

It did not help that we were having one or players a year not qualify to play due to academics.

That being said, the hire we made was never a better option.

I never had a problem with Delmonico being let go. It still surprises me that people back him. If he was this great coach then he would have been a head coach by now.

What gives Delmonico fans fire power is we hired someone worst than Delmonico. I can't wait for this next year to be over so maybe we can get a coach in here that will be an upgrade. I just hope we get a new AD first.
