Delvin Jones dismissed from Ole Miss

Just goes to show how much important evaluating character and talent is....Kiffin has definitely got a lot to learn about character.

Because it's so easy to predict how 18 year olds will handle being independent for the first time.

Let me get this straight. So, a lot of guys that either came to UT or nearly came to UT during the Kiffin year turned out to be of questionable character?

That shouldn't be a surprise. Who else would you expect Kiffin and co. to get along with?

So if he washes out at USC are you going to keep this crap up?

He has a valid excuse for not winning if that happens. Nick Saban would have a hard time winning if he had 10 fewer scholarships to work with than everyone else.

Let me first start by saying I hate what Lane Kiffin did to Tennessee football and our fan base...

That being said I believe we lack logic in our assesments of Lane Kiffin's coaching/recruiting ability. Instead everything I read is driven by emotion.

In regards to this thread you can not measure his recruiting ability based on the class retention that he brought into Tennessee. He was not here to mentor, coach, or develop these athletes. Recruiting is only half the battle when it comes to young athletes success and he was not around long enough to prove what he could or could not do with the athletes that matched his style of coaching. The true test will be at USC assuming he has a longer tenure there.

Bottom line he left Tennessee for his dream job, we need to get over ourselves and allow his body of work, or lack there of speak for his coaching abilities. Our fan base continually bringing him up and bashing him does nothing but make us look like the ex-girlfriend that got dumped and now will say anything to make the ex-boyfriend look bad because it in turn makes them look better or feel better. he left, he had his reasons, move on.

valid excuse? no. He signed 30 players this year. He won't see the effects of those scholarships for another 3 years or so, more than enough time for it to not be a valid excuse if he doesn't win this year or the next 2 years.

Nick Saban would not have been dumb enough to go there in the first place.

Kiffin consciously walked head-on into that mess of a situation.

An adult does the right thing, dream job or not. That pretty much sums up Kiffin, does it not?

I thought he'd ride out the USC sanctions here and leave around 2013 or 14 for USC, which would have been fine with me.

Thats what I thought he would do too. When I saw he was leaving I was shocked. I knew he wanted to be back at USC but I just never thought he would leave under the current circumstances of the program.

Remember him? We've had some lucky misses it seems like from the guys Lane Kiffin was recruiting here. This is one of several guys we were recruiting but missed on that has gotten in trouble and been dismissed.

BTW, for those who are curious, Delvin was playing DE at Ole Miss. There was always the question of would he play DE or TE -- some even said receiver.

Impossible. Lane Kiffin is such a phenomenal recruiter. Not.

Anyone still want to defend him and his recruits? Step right up. It will amuse me.
