Demontre Hurst

Sounds like his coach is pushing for us.. That can never hurt...

It does, doesn't it?

He has solid grades, runs track, and seems to be a little more savvy than some of the other prospects out there.

His two Rivals videos were fun to watch. I'd love to see him in ORANGE.

I read Hurst's name in an article this past week. I don't remember if it was Scout/Rivals or perhaps an article through a newspaper search, but it said UT had interest in Hurst and it'd be a matter of time before they approached him.

I do find it odd that they just now contacted him. I mean they've been incredibly busy, but it really speaks volumes about the level of confidence Lane has.

It's either unbelievable confidence or a case of "what's the worst that can happen?"

I mean if he offers to a kid late in the game and he says, Thanks, but no thanks," there's no substantial time lost. If it's just a matter of picking up a phone and dialing it makes sense.

I like the intro of the article---

"If you look at the Rivals player profile for Lancaster, Texas defensive back Demontre Hurst, you won't see Tennessee listed anywhere. That's because the Vols haven't been in the picture. At least until this weekend, when Hurst got a call from the Tennessee staff."

You could say that about over a dozen prospects!

TN's staff is moving too fast for any single outlet to keep up!

I've been refreshing the news sites--doing term searches, along with refreshing Rivals & Scout for a while now and you have to fight and claw to even scratch the surface on the depths these guys are going to, in order to electrify this program.

We were in the mix when I made this thread. But that is neither here nor there.

This kid is a good athlete and would be a good late pick-up for the vols.

You are right and I read that 12/5 Scout article a while ago, too. There's so many people to keep up with. I cross up names and when in fact, people are getting on the TN bandwagon.

Posting on no sleep is a bad habit as well.

"Yes, I am going to Oklahoma State next weekend," said the 5-11, 180-pound speedster that also runs track. "I am going to Oklahoma State and then Miami on Jan. 23. It is really down to three schools (including Arizona, where he visited in December)."

He has been quoted as saying Miami is his leader, but he said he is looking at all three schools equally right now. It's down to Arizona, Miami and Oklahoma State - listed in alphabetical order.

Asked what could end up blowing him away and making a difference, he was short. "Atmosphere, the atmosphere around the school and football," added Hurst.

I think that the Atmosphere thing plays very well in our favor when looking at the schools he is considering. I think that this interview was done before the call from Kiffin yesterday.

Not that it matters to us, but he is now headed to Oklahoma.

"It looks like I'm going to go with OU," Hurst said on Tuesday night. "I'm signing with Oklahoma tomorrow."

why did we drop out with this guy?

we signed him up for a visit and then he committed to Oklahoma State after visiting the campus. he said it felt home and he was solid. then he cancelled his visit to Tennessee---makes sense, right?

then out of nowhere he's committed to Oklahoma.

I quit following him after he cancelled his visit, but I really liked him. I thought he could be a legitimate playmaker.

I think Oklahoma offered him very late, because I don't remember seeing an offer from them previously.
