Depth chart for Utah state

Coleman has worked exclusively at nickel during camp. I think the way the depth chart is listed is just a clever way of not committing to one of Michael Williams and Emanuel Mosley outside yet.

I agree that that's part of it. I also think it's because the NB position is not technically a starting position in a 4-3 defense, but Coleman is the starter at a position and a senior, so he gets listed.

Well congratulations. Jayson Swain should've hollered at you because he was surprised as well. While Pig is to be commended for doing the work required of him and listed first on the depth chart for USU, I fully expect Josh Malone to be the big playmaker opposite North at wideout.

Thank you. I'd like my cookie now.

And you've expected a lot of things lately that haven't came to fruition.

The only real surprise here is Coleman being listed at starting CB in a 4-3 look. It will also be interesting to see if the starting DEs in 4-3 looks will be Maggit/Vereen or Barnett/Maggit or Vereen.

I thought Vic was turning some heads and was projected to be the return specialist? Although, I feel that Cam can be dangerous with the ball in his hands, I'm always against playing starters as returners unless they are just magical like CP or Devin Hester. I think we'll see Croom come in during 3rd down and red zone situations. I know it may be overhyped or overly talked about but I really like our group of receivers. We have a little bit of everything such as possession, hands, speed, deep threat, slot, etc.

I think Vic is slightly injured. I would bet that Young or Carter will field punts deep in our territory.

Such as? I did expect Pearson to start at slot and he is. Just expected him to take Pig's job and not for Pig to take the opposite WR spot of North ahead of Malone/Croom/Smith. I don't recall projecting any other positions besides stating that McNeil wouldn't start at safety opposite Randolph at SS, thought it would be a freshman and as it turns out it's Swafford.

FWIW, the size of this D is more similar to what Chavis favored at UT. He was willing to give up a little size for speed at pretty much every position. DE's are pretty much dead on what he fielded. He usually had one bigger DT though.

Good. I am so tired of teams running circles around our D.

Anyone else think it's weird to have Sutton returning punts? Hope a young guy can take over those responsibilities soon

Not weird, but sure is concerning. It will be one of them deals where I hold my breath when he gets hit hard until I see him get up and trot off the field. I'd say he will be a good return man, but I hate to risk injury because we got to have him at corner.

The only mild surprise was Swafford starting at safety. Outside of that it's pretty much the way I and many others expected.

He had the pick 6 in the swamp, returned the blocked punt against uga for a td.
He had his moments, good and bad.
Can't be worse than McNeil.

Or as Ainge would say... "Swaafffooorrrrddd"....

He was out of position a lot, but had some good plays. I'm honestly torn because in his case I'm not sure if talent overrides luck... Either way, he made some good plays for the Vols last year and I'm excited to see him on the field this year.
