Derek Dooley Moment

It definitely might have been his Missouri game.

Well other than the actual Missouri games (you know what I mean). Getting swept by A&M is beyond pathetic.

Cant believe he did it, but he topped them all. Today was the worst coaching performance of his UT coaching existence

Had he not called the timeout and the shot had missed, people would be *****ing because he didn't call a timeout. lmao Hindsight is so easy to see what the correct call should have been . All that was needed was to make one damn foul shot. I guess that is Martin's fault also.

You saw it today!

I cant see how this guy won a championship at Mo. State. He is one of the worst coaches in situational BB that I have seen. Even, in middle school, we practiced at how to get the ball up the court in a hurry with only a few ticks left. He deserves to be fired- this team is not motivated , mentally tough, plays lazy too much of the time, etc. We cant get in the ball inbounds at critical times or get a good shot when the game is on the line. It is painful to watch this garbage game after game.

Worst than Dooley honestly. Dooley had bad calls go against him and made bad calls, but he never did something as 100% his fault alone as cuonzo did tonight.

I hate it for the seniors and Stokes because they've deserved better.

That being said, I file this game under the 'we may have lost the battle today, but we still may win the war.'. Hopefully Hart now sees this isn't correctable and makes the call/drive to Gettysvue.

We have better players, it is his fault because the game should not have been close. They play without discipline at critical times. That is a coaching problem.

Today was the entire CCM era rolled into one game. No grit, no effort, no drive, no nothing and then snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
BBB!!!

Rofl martin sucks at coaching but you people are ridiculous! Calling that time out is exactly what a coach should have done. He called it before Barton (who didn't hit a shot all DAY) threw up that shot. If he wouldn't have called it and it missed, ppl would be mad. Geez.....

In the Missouri game Tennessee had a chance to make something happen, with a tie game and 45 seconds left with two timeouts at the end of regulation. Missour's offense was ranked 112th that year. However, Dooley played it too safe and settled for overtime. They lost and a chance to go 7-5 if they won out and go to a bowl faded into the sunset. Today you saw a game winning 3 point shot and a chance to go to the NCAA fade into the sunset.

I agree. It was an example of a coach having (being?) bad luck. But the problem wasn't the time out--the problem was that we were trailing Texas A&M and needed such a shot to win.

you guys saying that timeout with 2.4 left are ridiculous.

Barton dribbles over and looks for McRae coming off the low block screen. They play ball denial. Barton goes over to Richardson who tries to come off a screen but stumbles and has the ball in no man's land.
You either call one when you cant get the ball to McRae or you call one after Richardson makes his first move.
He missed 2 opportunities to use a TO wisely and didn't.

Wrong. You call the timeout as soon as they cross half court. This team, including the coach, are never prepared. Stokes having a chance to score an easy layup at the 25 second mark is another example. Instead he's passing it up and throwing the ball out for 3's. Bobby Knight would have exploded watching that.
