"A lot of broken spirits in the locker room including their coach". What does that mean? He's the coach. I didn't know he talks in third person.

I just watched that on the DVR but already deleted it so I can't reference it to see the context.

You're right. They're multi-millionaires. I will not pile on but don't act like losing his job will be a detriment to his family's well being. They will have a comfortable lifestyle from now on, more so than many will ever know who read this forum. And he knew the expectations coming in so the fact that he failed, and failed miserably, would result in a severe backlash of negative and hurtful responses from a disappointed fanbase.

I would hope dooley does feel bad. The University of Tennessee and all of its fans invested alot in him and he didn't deliver jack sh!t. Good riddance.

Can't argue with this

I hold the belief that he did the best he could. He brought back class and integrity to the program while doing everything he thought was best to make us competitive again. It just didn't work.

I wanted him to be the guy, but it just wasn't meant to be. The least we can do is show him respect on the way out. Sure, we invested a lot in Dooley, but he invested as much, if not more, of his time and effort into this team over the past three years. I don't care how much money you were making. If you care about your job and your team, failing and getting thrown out after giving it your all when most wouldn't take the job is going to be emotionally devastating.

DD has won everywhere except on. The field, he has 32 3.0 football players which will recruit, he must be. Given one more year, and it's better than starting over ! If we do we are hurting!,,, Hart. Has to give this man one more and as fans we need to give him at least 1/2 a season, if we lose to ga,sc then I say fire him, but not till he gets his full third chance!, guys he has done a ton of good for us just give him 7 more games and then get out the check book if needed! If we change we won't be in a bowl for at least 2 more! These players will check out if he leaves! And that would kill the program!

I would hope so, that was his job. And you'll have to excuse me if I don't share the same sentiment of pity towards him that you do. Like I said, I am not going to pile on so I will just leave it at this, I just want him gone.

Your post is not only totally WRONG but it's very immature and classless.

CDD was a Millionaire BEFORE he even went to La.Tech.

His wife is a Doctor, CDD was an attorney and he earned well over $1 Million during his coaching days at LSU and the Miami Dolphins.

At least be mature enough to not bash and belittle a man that did have the courage to come to Tennessee when we were the worst program in the country and a total disaster.

He represented Tennessee very well and did alot of good things to make us a better program than we were before he got to the hill.

He didn't meet his own goals as far as wins and losses are concerned and you can bet he's miserable about that as well as letting his players down.

He and most coaches don't coach for the money my friend.

They coach because they love the game and trying to help make men out of boys and good football players out of kids with very basic skills from high school.

You've obviously never played football so you're clueless about how much there is to learn or how much every kid and coach puts into trying to build a really good team that can compete and win against most anyone.

The kids and the coaches are all people with desires and goals and feelings so grow up and simply say THANK YOU for trying your best while you were at Tennessee and I wish you all the best in the future.

It's just a game to people like you but to the players and coaches it's their LIFE!

I just hope we can get a good coach that's a excellent recruiter to take on the task of finishing the rebuilding process that CDD started.

VFL...GBO!!!

Hypothetical: I am a Hotel Manager. I have done the best i can. My employees do not steal and I have done what I think it takes to compete with other hotels. I have failed to show my maintenance personnel how to react to things on the spot and I haven't shown my housekeepers how to make things look good from the first impression.

My business keeps going down, and I don't understand why.

My customers like me, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I failed.

The LEAST these people can do for me is pay me millions of dollars, realize that no one wanted this job besides me and above all - respect what I have done at this hotel.

Agree. Not to mention the scrutiny and humiliation he has had to endure...along with us, the fans.

Regardless of what has happened, his goal was to win and turn this program around...he just didn't have all the ingredients as a coach to do so.

Feeling the grip of failure is terribly disheartening.

I supported Dooley until the bitter end. All I have to say is thanks for trying. Lots would not even try. After all, multi-millionaires have feelings too. Best to you and your family, Derrick.
