Derek Dooley Show confusing comment by CDD

I would hope so, that was his job. And you'll have to excuse me if I don't share the same sentiment of pity towards him that you do. Like I said, I am not going to pile on so I will just leave it at this, I just want him gone.

There is a difference between pity and respect, and it's quite obvious that you view the two words as synonyms.

Derek Dooley Show confusing..... So is his coaching

Many people forget the man only has 2 full recruiting years under his belt at UT. When he left LA Tech he had 10 days to sort out before signing day. Kiffin left the program in a huge mess and it will take more than 2 recruiting years to rebuild. The man never had a fair chance and now everyone is out for his head.

From what I undersand there are 20+ players committed which most will leave if he gets fired, IMO. We will be in the same boat in another 3 years. I've never seen a fanbase so clueless about how the system works. Nor have I seen a fanbase hope their team loses just to get a coach fired. I'm a Vol fan and I am frustrated along with everyone else, but some of you are down right stupid.

I like coach Dooley he just not over his head. You can't hire a coach from a no name college and expect him to win the hardest conference.

Agree. Not to mention the scrutiny and humiliation he has had to endure...along with us, the fans.

Regardless of what has happened, his goal was to win and turn this program around...he just didn't have all the ingredients as a coach to do so.

Feeling the grip of failure is terribly disheartening.

$2 mil per year x 3 years + $5 mil buyout makes it all better.

If my boss looked at me and said, "you're a failure, you're the worst employee we've ever had, you'll never work in this industry again, and you're fired...here's a check for $5 mil"...it'd be the greatest day of my life.
I'd run home to my wife and 3 kids and say, "I've got great news family...I was fired"...no, I'd mess with them...I'd come home crying and be like, "I don't know what we're gonna do, we're gonna have to move (all while fighting back the snickering)" and then I'd be like BUT I GOT A CHECK FOR $5,000,000 and my wife would let out a YES!!!! and the kids would be high-fivin me and each other. You can scrutinize me all you want, I can unplug my computer/phone/TV. With $5 mil and no jobby job, I won't have time for any of that stuff anyway (maybe the computer)

LOL @ feeling bad for Dooley.

DD has won everywhere except on. The field, he has 32 3.0 football players which will recruit, he must be. Given one more year, and it's better than starting over ! If we do we are hurting!,,, Hart. Has to give this man one more and as fans we need to give him at least 1/2 a season, if we lose to ga,sc then I say fire him, but not till he gets his full third chance!, guys he has done a ton of good for us just give him 7 more games and then get out the check book if needed! If we change we won't be in a bowl for at least 2 more! These players will check out if he leaves! And that would kill the program!

Somebody call Eastern State and tell them they have a patient missing...God almighty...You sir are nothing more than a troll...A gator troll or a UGA troll or a Bammer troll but none the less a TROLL now run along and play in traffic or something.

Maybe a lot of fans are like me. I was behind the coach until Saturday when we held Mizzou to 68 total yards in the first half, then let them come back and beat us. That's coaching(or a lack thereof). Then to sit on the ball with a chance to win at the end of regulation was incomprehensible. He has been a great ambassador for UT but it is time for him to go.

He and most coaches don't coach for the money my friend.

They coach because they love the game and trying to help make men out of boys and good football players out of kids with very basic skills from high school.

If he was coaching for the love of football, he'd be running a pee-wee league somewhere. Sure the guy loves football, but let's be honest, every coach wishes to graduate to the next level and earn the money these coaches get paid. With that though, comes high expectations.

Each level up demands more and more of a coach's time, but it's hard to argue that any more time Dooley would give this program would pay off. He's clearly in over his head and he may get a way with it a little longer at a school like La Tech, but every decision (timeouts, substitutions, play calling, etc) will be questioned at any SEC school. That's why Joker is no longer coaching.

Stupid, how about this . Half the offense is gone if he stays . EEMMM kay . So with next years schedule cdd is to be trusted to rebuild another offense and defense . Some of the players have already said the only way they stick around is if cdd is gone .

Hypothetical: I am a Hotel Manager. I have done the best i can. My employees do not steal and I have done what I think it takes to compete with other hotels. I have failed to show my maintenance personnel how to react to things on the spot and I haven't shown my housekeepers how to make things look good from the first impression.

My business keeps going down, and I don't understand why.

My customers like me, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I failed.

The LEAST these people can do for me is pay me millions of dollars, realize that no one wanted this job besides me and above all - respect what I have done at this hotel.

I'll buy that for a dollar!

GO VOLS!

What do u mean? His whole families life is about to take a drastic turn.. It's more than football to him.. If u think any coach doesn't care, ur out of ur freaking mind.

Dooley does not care if TN wins. He just wants to get rich.

Hell, we all know Dooley can't coach but can negotiate like it's nobodies business evidenced by his buy-out. I say fire Hart and make Dooley be AD and use that law degree to slither a deal with Gruden.

Basically if you fail at your crummy job who is going to know? If a high profile coach fails he name is all over sports center, news papers etc... lot of weight to carry which equates to lot of pay. wasnt like dooley lacked work ethic, desire, etc.... Dang lot of luck involved as well. Somehow seemed we could never have it fall our way this year. Personally i like Dooley but understand emotions of those who want a change. Cant understand people who make comments like "good riddance". Classless. same kind of fan that throws coke bottles at playeRs etc.
