When I first read the quote "We will win championships here" my first thought was Vanderbilt is leaving the SEC and joining the SunBelt or Conference USA.

I think either you're underestimating the type of opponents Vandy would see in C-USA or the Sun Belt.

I was thinking OVC or Big South myself.
