16.3 MPG
7.0 PPG
8.7 RPG
4-11 from 3 (36.4%)
2.0 BPG
1.3 FPG

I don't know if he's the solution for the third forward spot, but his last three games are an indicator he definitely should be at least getting a few minutes. Even though he didn't shoot well against Virginia, he still had nine rebounds and three assists in 10 minutes.

More effective than Moore IMO. That's something I never thought I'd say. If he can play some defense, he will be getting close to 10mpg.

Yea I said after last game he has earned more minutes, I think Martin will bring Reese off the bench sooner tonight, possibly ahead of Moore and Davis.

Do you guys think his sudden playing time started because the effort in practice got that much better, or CCM wasn't happy with what he was getting from the other guys?

Just seems strange that their wasn't at least glimpses of this production in practice.

I agree, weird situation.

I'm leaning toward him not being happy with other guys. Might have initially been a message he was trying to send, and Reese just seized the moment. But who knows.

I think Reese's recent surge coincides with AJ Davis' recent struggles.

Last three games for Davis...
-35 total minutes (11.6 per gm)
-0 points on 0-5 shooting, 0-2 from three, 0-3 from FT line
-7 rebs (2.3 per gm)
-2 assists (0.6 per gm)
-2 steals (0.6 per gm)

that includes Barton, McRae, Richardson, Reese and Maymon or Stokes depending on who is in foul trouble on down the line during the SEC season.

Yeah I think AJ wants to be a big 3 or floating 4, but we need somebody to pick up the dirty work in the paint, when Maymon and/or Stokes come out. And agree with badjerry that Lebron realized this and started showing out a little more in practice.

There was an article that said Reese had about given up and wasn't putting in the effort.
Came close to quitting the team.
Went to Martin and asked what he needed to do. Martin told him to start busting his ass again.

I think that's more who he is not wants to be. He isn't a 4. He plays there because after Maymon/Stokes we don't have a legit big man. On a talented well balanced team he would never be asked to guard big men. Same with Reese.

I agree neither want to be, but it doesn't mean they shouldn't be. I would rather have them both guarding bigs than guards. JMO

AJ just need to get a little mean in him. Cofer will show him next year.

announcer during one of the recent games said, Reese went to Zo to ask what he should do to get in the rotation, and Zo said work harder. So Reese started putting up hundreds of extra shots a day, lifting extra weights, and sure enough worked himself into the rotation.

But I also agree, AJ has struggled really badly the last few games.

Now that you mention it I remember them saying something like that. But if I'm Zo that sounds better than I thought we would do better with AJ and Moore getting those minutes.

Nah that was probably the reason, I was just playing conspiracy theorist.

that's fine, but why does it take 10 games in to communicate that with a player that can obviously help the team? Why wait for Reese to come to you?

Not to me. They need to both work on ball handling and quickness. There is a reason they are listed as g/f. At the 2 or 3 with their size they are weapons. As undersized 4s not so much. When they play the 4 we run a four guard lineup. They don't need to be guarding true 4s and 5s. Maymon and Stokes are their height but have 50 or 60 pounds on them but still can't guard someone over 6'9. Why do you think Davis and Reese can? That is our main problem now. Post size. Putting g/f who aren't really post players at the 4/5 the next few years is not going to help.

And while Cofer may be the same height he is a completely different kind of player than them. He is more of a Tyrus Thomas/Faried 4. We need Turman to come and be a factor down low.
