Apparently people aren't allowed to be happy that the team showed some improvement or that a player who hasn't played much had a good game.
Surprised?
If they should generate the patience to beat VA it will be , Well they lost to GreenBay.

Who in the world is claiming a victory over Morehead as a signature win?

The female commentator said at one point during the game that Morehead St. would be a quality win for UT. I remember it well b/c I was ROTFLMAO. That being said, I'm glad we showed improvement but that was a little over the top, IMO.

guy has a good game versus a bad OVC team.

doesnt really say much

I dont think anybody is turning him into a world beater after this game. The word spark is being used. But to be fair and accurate, that is not a 'bad OVC' team. They will finish near the top of the OVC. Not saying that makes this some kind of big win. But if you are going to make an argument, at least be accurate.

P.S. Reese will not set the world on fire but I think the way he rebounds and quickly fires an outlet pass up the court helped us push the ball up the court.

She also said that they will have lots of film to watch on how not to finish a game. Sounds spot on too me. Should have won this contest by 25+. Instead, they let up, and looked like they could give a rip at the end. Telling.

Carolyn Peck is a former coach too. She should know better. She is from Jefferson City, TN and was an assistant under Pat. Maybe it's the homer in her (even if she's a Vandy grad).

His 4 blocks were a big boost, that's something we don't do and if he can bring a defensive presence around the rim every game that would be huge.

Put Reese or Armani with a big man down low. Stokes and Maymon alone give up points.

If Reese can be a 40% three point shooter I have to think he continues to see big minutes over Aj, and Armani. Look at wiltjer at Kentucky, he was a defensive liability and everyone knew it, but what he brought to their offense by being a stretch 4 was too much to leave him on the bench.

Obviously it's just one game, I'm hoping he does it against UVA because we are going to need it.

Reese does have a tendency to shoot the 3 even when he's not hot. Hopefully we don't see him trying to force the 3. Who will get more minutes Reese or Hubbs :)

Reese does give us some hope. Stokes and Maymon actually made some layups. The overall D was pretty solid. Hopefully Hubbs gains some confidence and plays up to his potential. We need to win 16 to 18 of the remaining games to make the dance or win the SEC tourney. Tall order, but maybe we can find some offense somewhere and get hot.

Upfront I know...its Moorehead ST., its one game, he was super excited for his debut, etc etc etc...and I know the coaches witness practice everyday....BUT...unless and injury or discipline is in place...you have to wonder why D. Reese has not been worked into the rotation before now...he came with the reputation of a shooter if I recall...at any rate...great game Reese...

I was at the game last night and thought the first 18 minutes were well played on both ends then we got lazy on defense. Same in the second half. Reese had a great offensive and rebounding game but we can easily see why he has not played, his defense really needs work. Still it was good to see him get some time and make the most of it. If this team would get focused they could win a lot of games in the SEC. If not, it will be another NIT appearance.

Any team up 26 is going to let up. They had way too many turnovers in the second half but they were up 26 with 10 mins or so. Who isn't going to start relax? Not saying I agree with it but you just want to run the clock out and get the game over with. It happens. It's not telling.

The telling part is how great the offense runs when the team attempts to run and not slow the ball down what's telling is how when you get the ball to our bigs early in the clock how good things happen. The goods and improvement from the team yesterday def out weights the bad that happened.

He gives UT another option against Virginia's zone and I expect a game in the 60's against the Cavaliers.

BTW, I hope the series continues against Virginia for recruiting purposes and it is always good to have an ACC team on future schedules.

Based on last year's game, a game in the 60s will feel like a game played in the 90s.
