Derrick Henry

Earlier this season I got in a debate on Fournette Vs Henry. I thought Fournette was the better all around back. I'll take that slice of crow pie now. While Henry plays for Satan and that evil university he's a great kid and really earned this award. Much more so than Ingram I think. Can't argue with the committee's choice this year

So he's going to be an NFL starter?

Sounds like a good gig to me.

Yeah look as some of the starters in the nfl Jennings, Miller McFadden Andrews Yeldon Lacy Ingram Ivory. Like I said he will fit right in with rest of those starting backs and 3 of them are Alabama pearls also

Alabama will get you to the nfl right now because you were a 5 star recruit in high school and will be in the top 5 every year but look at the players they put in the nfl and what they become. Very few make a name for themselves Julio and a couple of others but the rest are marginal pros and running the ball 400 times this year does not help you either. Running backs life in the pros is fleeting

Some typical Bama BS imo.

I would have went with Henry..... both guys had an amazing year but the difference to me was that mccaffrey pretty much got shut down in their loss to northwestern while Henry still had a great game in the loss to ole miss.

Hurd will have more rushing attempts in his 3 yr career than Henry, assuming he doesn't get hurt next year.

Henry never trucked anyone like Hurd and fouronette. He did the occasional stiff arm and had good speed The reason his numbers were so good is because he ran through 10 foot wide holes. Hurd would have been ridiculous behind bamas line. Mcaffrey is also an overall better back than Henry.

Henry seemed to still fall forward in the 4th quarters. Im not saying that wins Heismans. But teams get tired of trying to tackle the guy.

Yes he will most likely and this is not about Hurd but also he did not play his senior yr where Henry had another 300 carries I would say if not more.I am saying that he will be like lacy, Ingram, Yeldon etc and and another starting running back getting 60 yds a game but nothing special. He is big but speed will be his downfall just like it got these guys. He is no different but a good college back

although different, IF CFB is going to professionalize the game as a whole via corporate sponsorship, pay NFL wages to coaches and colleges, and even has some loosey goosey type of half-asses approach to picking it's CFB playoff scenario with a 'panel' based upon some supposed statistical scenario.. i dont get it, why not should there exist a somewhat quantifiable number for choosing the Heistman winner? if this is CFB's MVP then we as fans, media, etc more importantly players of this game deserve to know what ia the Heistman exactly? is it for offensive performance? overall performance?

i havent watched or cared about the Heisman trophy in years. it means much less than it did. CFB needs to evolve and change and get with the times. The days of blinding the audience and wowing them with the ranbit ouf of the hat trick are gone. We know that trick, we want to see #'s, and more defined parameters for this award. CFB's audience has grown up and gotten more saavy. my .02. which, doesnt go far.

It's not because they're ran too much in college though. If they are, then there's a good chance we'll have to retire Hurd after his JR year and start siring him.

Carries:
Ingram 572 in 3 yrs
Richardson 540 in 3 yrs
Lacy 355 in 3 yrs
Yeldon 576 in 3 yrs
Drake 228 in 4 yrs
Henry 546 in 3 yrs

Hurd 665 in 3 yrs (on pace)

I can honestly say that I didn't give a crap about the Heisman. I didn't even realize it was being presented last night until someone posted the winner on Facebook.

Somewhere around the time stiffs like Jason White and Chris Weinke won It, I said no thanks.
