Derrick Williams

At first he withdrew his visit from Texas. But I went to rivals.com, and it said that he'd just arrived back from his visit to Texas (I believe). So I think we'll see a decision in the next week or 2.

Florida head coach Urban Meyer was the last coach to make his pitch to Greenbelt (Md.) Eleanor Roosevelt athlete Derrick Williams as the new Gator head man was in the Williams household Wednesday night for a visit. How did it go?

Rivals.com

Williams met with Florida last night.
"It was good, we were impressed," said Dwight Williams, Derrick's father. "he was very smooth and very prepared. He has a plan for Derrick like everyone else, but showed it well and it's a little different."

Williams would essentially be the H-Back at Florida right away in Meyer's offense.

"They said the H-Back never leaves the field, like the quarterback," Dwight said. "He lines up in the slot, catches the ball, runs reverses and even gets those forward option pitches. They think Derrick can do some damage with the ball in his hands 15 times a game or more."

Meyer was with coach Locksley (running backs coach) and coach Gonzales (wide receivers coach).

"We've known Locks for awhile, but it was good to meet coach Gonzales," Dwight said. "They put Florida right back in the mix. We were a bit upset when co ach Zook was fired, but meeting coach Meyer helped."

Williams said that Meyer was very confident in his plan in the SEC.

"He's not going to change what made his successful," Dwight said. "He just has more tools at Florida and a lot of talent."

Williams will now go underground when it comes to the media and college coaches.

"We're shutting it down for the most part," said Dwight. "Derrick needs time to think and we all need to discuss the options."

Has any school been eliminated?

"None of the ones he visited," he said. "Florida, Penn State, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Texas are the final five and each has something different about it. He'll be choosing between all five next Wednesday."

Williams will appear on ESPNews Thursday at 3:45PM EST to discuss his recent visits to Oklahoma and Texas as well as his decision-making process.

His commitment will be carried live from Eleanor Roosevelt High School on Wednesday, Dec. 22 at 3:30PM EST on ESPNews.

I doubt UF. It'll come down to OU or Texass (Family there). Then UT and then UF

Kids that age can be fickle. I mean, a driving force for Ainge's decision to go to Tennessee was the fact that Peyton Manning played football for the Vols. If it wasn't for that, you might be seeing him as the backup for Andrew Walter at Arizona State, or maybe Rodgers at Cal. Tennessee still has a legit shot at getting Williams.

Please don't quote Pissant Farrell, he is probably the worse informed recruiting expert out there. Hate UT and has even stated on players that have committed to UT was actually looking elsewhere when even the recruit said it was bull. Farrell knows less about recruiting than I do.

people have been posting about this kid for almost a month. I put some info up about him a few weeks ago. No one knows where Williams is going but i will bet its not UT. But we can think positive about the kids that committed from memphis earlier this week.

OU people think OU
Texass people think Texas
Florida people know its Florida (they think no recruit can turn them down)
Penn State people are split between PSU and Tennessee
Tennessee people think UT or OU
and Dwill thinks its time to wait till DEC 22 and everyone can find out.

Williams: "I'm going to play at Tennessee next year"

ESPN: "Are you sure you want to go there?"

etc. etc.

Screw him, I don't know anything about the guy other than the hype, but if he's a prima donna attitude, the other programs can have him. I want team guys who will give their all for Tennessee. I'm already guessing that kind of attitude is lost on this guy.

I'm saying no way he comes to Knoxville.

If any of you are looking for the announcement-it's on ESPNews not ESPN. You can listen live on the internet. They just said the announcement would be in 10 minutes.

Big recruit for JoePa - Kind of refreshing to hear a kid pick a school based on loyalty. Just bought Joe Pa a couple of years.
