Devil Rays getting a $450,000,000 stadium?

And possibly Posey or Tim Beckman too. The Rays have some serious talent.

Always have, when you stock pile top 5 picks year in and year out there's no excuse not to. What's scary is that this team hasn't really started hitting yet. Carlos Pena hit 49homers last year and has just started to get going, and Longoria looks more confident every game.

I think the Rays may go with Beckham over Posey given the emergence of Navvy behind the plate and Reid Brignac is far from a sure thing in the future at short. The other option was Pedro Alvarez from Vandy, but I think the Rays are pretty well set at third base for the next 15 or so years.Price was dazzling in his first start the other day in the Florida State League coming off an injury, he's got nasty stuff.

I sure am glad I ordered MLB extra innings because the season my Rays are having is really making my summer.

The Rays are one of my favorite teams to watch. Not a huge fan of the team its self just a huge fan of the way they play. They have some young studs and they are for real. And when they draft Tim Beckham they will only get better.

I'm hoping it's Beckham, although they may take the most ready player, Pedro Alvarez, now that they are a legitimate contender. The question would be if Alvarez would sign, he's already said to be pushing for a HUGE bonus, knowing he'd be moving to 1st or RF.

I can almost gurantee you that they won't take Alvarez.

I double guarantee they wont take Alvarez, they have Longoria. Moving him away from 3rd is a mistake IMO and too risky...Beckham will definitely be their man unless something drastic happens. Also Alvarez is tight with Boras...another reason they will not draft him.

I'd rather take Alvarez than Posey, I'm not sold on his skills behind the plate yet and would bet he ends up at 1st. While I haven't seen Beckham play, the similarities with BJ Upton are striking. Their size and scouting reports out of HS are identical and both hail from the state of Georgia. There weren't many questions about BJ's potential to play short and we saw what happened with that, even Ozzie Smith tutelage couldn't make him into an MLB shortstop. I think Beckham is the guy, I just hope he can really play the position.

B.J. is from Virginia, but you make a pretty good point.

Having two potentially dominant lefty-handed aces like Price and Kazmir is really exciting for Rays fans.

Price you should make a official Rays thread or this could be it, because i like to talk about them. But i think the #1 pick will be between these 3 players: Tim Beckham, Buster Posey, Brian Matusz.
