Devrin and Lane expected to be back this weekend

Hubbs said on the radio that he would field kick off and punts, did in practice yesterday with no issues, but would be in the offense. Said Lane will rest Neal and Saulsberry would play only in pass rush situations.

Thanks for the info. Hope you are right on all accounts... except I'd rather see TS play more. I loved the way that guy threw people around.

Other than me mistyping the part about DY in the offense it's a direct quote. DY will not play on offense.

Hate on me all you want, but I've never been impressed by Devrin. Don't understand why everyone thinks he's so great.

CP was "great" and I don't think DY deserves that comparison but I'm not sure why DY is so under appreciated. His 628 KOR yards was the 5th best in school history...and that was as a Freshman.

Trying to argue DY is "great" at this point would be a bit much but damn...he has in fact been more than serviceable in the return game.

Not trying to be a killjoy.... but I'd trade both for Saulsberry. He was UT's best DT when he went down and could be the difference in this game. He was probably more disruptive than any other UT DL.
He'll be back as well.

I agree totally.

Think of the many years we've had someone back there who we were just hoping he didn't muff catching the punt. DY has proven to be sure handed and most times makes good decisions on whether to fair catch or not. He's no CP, but who is? Doesn't always come up with a great play, but never seems to serve up an awful play.

He will be limited though.
Best I recollect he was only playing spots before the injury.
Almost had a sack on Mariota in the Orgy game.
Much more explosive than big Dan.
Why I think he and OBrien will be an upgrade in the middle next season with another off season of strength training.

He was pushing to start before his injury. This week we will see him in pass rush downs.

Yes but since i had forgotten about last year i wasn't thinking about last year when i posted so it had been a while is what i was thinking.

Dude you said "not including last year". That has nothing to do with forgetting about last year. Besides that what exactly is your point?

Saulsberry was disruptive any time he was in the game. IIRC, he was getting close to starters reps.

I am personally not sure O'Brien is a starter next year without significant improvement. The constant comment about him as that he needs to improve his "athleticism" which seems to be a nice way of saying he's slow.

I think physically he is ready. Just not mentally.

Could be. Or it could just be practical.

If he plays then he gets 5-6 games this year plus next season to prove he can play in the NFL. The games this year probably wouldn't mean that much. His status would still depend on what he does next year.

By RSing, he still gets a full year to make an impression next year plus a "safety net" 5th year if he doesn't. That 5th year would also be on a team that would likely surround him with the best players of his career at UT.

Like with any decision of this magnitude, I am sure there were many factors to consider.

Any word on whether Riyhad( Spell check?) Jones will play this weekend?

I feel the same way. He has had his opportunities to live up to the "potential" that everyone has given him. I'm not saying he is a bad player or we shouldn't use him. He is a quick reliable player and I think he is perfect for PR except he doesn't have that creativeness. But I'm glad he is back, and hope to see him score one.

The other options are Lambert and Carr. He might be the fastest of the 3.
Haven't seen any numbers on Lambert though.
