Dick Vitale

I can hanle the bias but what I hated the most was how much he talked about Calipari being a winner and then bashing the UT kids for making bad choices in life. Where was the talk of how Cal is the only coach to have 2 Final 4 teams taken away due to NCAA infractions. Where was the talk about his connections to corrupt promoter WWWes. He bashd Tyler Smith, and the rest of the guys for bad judgement but gave Calipari a pass/

The only thing I agreed with Vitale all night is when he said "The right coach for the right team" referring to Cal and KY. He's right, KY deserves everything C dishes up for them.

How many times did we get his Valentines day agenda?

I sort of ignore him even when listening to him call a game. If I heard correctly, he is going to take his wife to dinner and then go bone Gladys Knight. I could've heard that wrong.

"It's awesome baby!"
"(Insert name here) is a diaper dandy baby! He's gonna be something special!"
"Super scintillating sensational!"
"(Insert coach's name here) is awesome baby! He's done a great jobs with these diaper dandies"

That is the extent of Dickie V's broadcast analysis in whatever game he does.

You forgot:
"Are you kidding me?!?!"

On a side note, did anyone else catch his rant about the one and done rule? Ole Dick was complaining b/c he thinks the rule that makes guys, that are supposedly NBA ready, spend at least one yr in college is "ridiculous baby". He went on to claim that it was a disgrace to make an NBA ready "student athlete" go to college for that one yr. How he equates skipping college and going to the pros w/ being a student athlete is beyond me.

I like the enthusiasm and all, but anytime he calls a game for a "tradition-rich" program, you can just tell he's slobbering all over the place. He doesn't really offer up any analysis either.

Years ago, I used to think Dickie V was a great commentator because of his enthusiasm for the game. Now, I'm thankful that we get Nessler and Dykes most of the time on the Network. Simply put, Vitale is a schill for the "storied" programs in college basketball especially those in the ACC. I keep hoping he and Raftery will retire soon. Too bad we can't find a way to blame this loss on Dickie V. That would be "Awesome Babee". To bash the UT players for 1 mistake and let slime like Calimari slide with his antics is a joke, but it is Kentucky and it's good for ESPN to play up Kentucky or they wouldn't do it. We keep hearing how the SEC is better when UK is good and ESPN is all about what a school can do for their ratings.

DV is garbage. I also had to mute the game n the 1st because his dsl's wouldn't stop yapping for UK. It actually fit the game well, as the refs also added to that 'Washington Generals' approach to officiating the Vols. That no one said anything to question those calls, especially the offensive on Chism where he was undercut in the air, was typical. The UK Globetrotters win again.

I didnt mind them reminding folks that an out talented team that has had monstrous obstacles in front of them a Uber talented KY team was right there with us. What got on my nerves is him yeling they love their Cats Baby! they love their cats and If I was John wall I would ask for a restraining order against Dick because he obviously is borderline stalkerish with his love fest.

Vitale was awful as usual and has been since when he first started in the late 70s. He has always been difficult to listen to regardless of what he is saying because of his voice, he screams constantly. He had some kind of vocal cord cancer or something several years ago and now his voice is even more irritating. I know they love him at ESPN, but quite frankly, his voice is the pits to listen to.

Vitale is such a front running loser. He only cares about Kentucky, Duke, UNC, or Kansas. He has lost all credibility (if he ever had any in the first place) a couple of years ago. He is basically like a circus amusement ESPN brings on for viewers.

Dickie V not only gave Calapari a pass on his horrible track record on NCAA violations (required to forfeit participation, etc.), he bragged on Cal repeatedly while trashing the Tennessee BB players for their problems and not pointing out that two (Goins guilty of nothing and Tatum of speeding only) just happened to be at wrong place at wrong time. Dickie V's complete inconsistency was sickening. I had to turn the sound off at one point.

Does his voice make anyone else cringe? What about his love affair for John Wall?? Or Coach Calimari?? I finally had to mute my tv tonight to keep from throwing up.

I guess he thinks he gets paid to talk... constantly! It was obvious even his partner got sick of him. My 68 yr old mother said she had to mute the sound so she could watch the game... said his voice was more than she could take.

Vitale doesn't do anything but repeat whatever the general consensus is regarding the issues at hand. He doesn't provide any real insight or true analysis. He never makes a prediction that isn't along with the odds. Whenever things are an even split, he runs right down the middle, providing nothing of value with his comments. This was true long before last night's game.

I don't really know why he made the Hall of Fame unless it was just because of his trademark terms like "diaper dandy" or "you better get a T.O., baby!" or "the trifecta!" That being said, Vitale is harmless and he doesn't have any kind of bias against the Volunteers. He is just a talking head (like most of the guys doing sports broadcasting).

Vitale's praise of Calipari is just a function of his "going with the flow" (as I said earlier). Since Kentucky is the #2 team in the land, of course he is going to kiss their butts throughout the game. Vitale isn't capable of doing anything but that, and if you have been watching him through the years this becomes obvious (of course, if you are smart and turning him to 'mute' in order to watch the game, you might have missed it. HA!)

I do agree that it is a bit frustrating, however, to see that pretty much EVERYBODY on ESPN seems to just let Calipari get by without crticisim despite being the only coach to have left behind 3 schools in trouble due to NCAA violations. The only one that seems to have the courage to call it straight is Bob Knight. Knight's own conduct is questionable, but he didn't sugar-coat the issue with Calipari's garbage. At least Knight never did anything shady like that.
