Did anyone else notice the announcers/reporters on Milton?

I think we are finally seeing designed runs. Although I think the open it up for me is him to really take full advantage of the zone read. To me there have been multiple times this year he has handed off with when the end crashed.

Agreed on the passing woe's. It is no secret that he has struggled. I am I guess more curious on if him being "injured" played more into those woe's than anyone really thought.

And I fully understand that his passing will be limited when the rushing attack is so solid. Really no reason to take the ball out of your RB's hands when they are getting 5YPC.
He almost tore his knee up in the UTSA game it really looked scary and then he popped up. I think it was that game.

We can just disagree on this one. NFL scouts are going to look at the fact that he's has 6 years in college and still hasn't figure it out. NFL teams don't develop talent they hire already proven talent. They don't hope that he has more potential they want guys who's potential has already shown up. He's not going to suddenly turn into Cam Newton magically one day. He's 23 years old not 18!

Maybe he gets in as a walk on because of his size and can be an athlete but not a QB.

If Hooker couldn't get drafted until the 3rd round and Dobbs in the 4th round there is no way Milton gets drafted. He can't throw accurately and he can't really scramble and run well.
bet that hundo then.scouts were begging hype to see joe throw last year when they were here to see hendo, hype shut em down.joe has 16 total college games under his belt.just the last 2 weeks his draft stock has risen tremendously. He keeps running and making plays on the run,im guessing 3rd or 4th round.just to much athletic ability to not take a chance on him.hype recruited him for what he thought he could be, not for what he was.same w/ the nfl someone will take a flyer on him.

I would bet you $500 that Milton gets drafted. It's asinine to suggest otherwise. This is not a JG with average height and arm strength, not to mention average speed; it's a player with physical measurables on a par with what Richardson has, and beyond Richardson when it comes to arm talent. There are probably several quarterbacks in Richardson's draft class who are better football players, and better quarterbacks, than Richardson; he got drafted #4 purely because of his measurables. Milton may not go that high, but you're high if you think he goes undrafted.
Richardson, and I suppose his coaches, this year thought his most useful talent was running. So much so that he got continually beat up until he had to quit due to injury. It will be interesting to see how he does when he comes back and he’s told to stay in the pocket and throw it.

Look at Trey Lance. How'd he get drafted and didn't play his last season. Even if Joe doesn't make it in the NFL, his getting drafted is going to set his bank account better than the majority of people starting out in life. He just needs to play well finishing out the season, win or lose.

True. However, it seems like the lovers know what to do with themselves when he throws under 150 yards.

Actually, I don’t know what you would call me. I like Joe and it’s fun watching him do well. I have also wanted to see better from him at times. Is “realistic” still a thing?
The thing I've been wanting to see from Joe Milton is him putting the team on his back and carrying them to a win. It's one of those "intangibles" you hear the sports bobbleheads talk about. Elite quarterbacks can do that. I don't think we saw that from Joe until the Kentucky game (arguably you could cite the Orange Bowl win last year, but I didn't really think that win was ever in doubt).

Again, you are seeing all these runs because this offense is designed around its strongest position which is the RB room. I highly doubt you see a huge difference even if Nico is in the game. Thats due to us not having Elite WRs right now. The fans that keep pointing the finger at Joe like its all his fault are in denial because we have a 5* in waiting. Another thing is, Halzle isnt as good as Alex Golesh was at calling plays. Yes its Heupel's offense, but Alex was able to see the defense better than Joey and added wrinkles. This offense lacks creativity and its getting pretty predictable. Seeing the running game by Joe develop has been really good to see. Lets see if it continues.

I hope Bazooka Joe throws for 300+ against Georgia. The haters here wouldn't know what to do with themselves.
Joe wont, because our WR room isnt capable of that. We are lacking elite WRs. Notice how when Bama shut down Squirrel in the 2nd half that shut down the passing game.

All they had to do was shut down his first option (usually Squirrel). After that he had no idea what to do next. They figured that out at halftime as it was clear in the first half that the first option was the only place he was going with the ball. I didn’t see the Kentucky game so I don’t know if he actually successfully went through any progressions.

I noticed he was staring down his receivers in the Alabama game as well. Not so much in the Kentucky game. Directing traffic while rolling out away from pressure on the big completion to Dont'e Thornton on a 2nd and 19, as well as the check down completion to Dylan Sampson for a first down in the 4th quarter were completions he doesn't make in the Alabama game. That touchdown throw to Squirrel White in the Alabama game was a thing of beauty, though. He threw a dime to Chas Nimrod against Kentucky, as well.

Negative, Go back and watch the tape. Our WRs cannot and i mean CANNOT get open. We are lacking Elite WR talent. Period. Stop blaming this on Joe.

I imagine we will see every play in the book, and maybe some new ones, against uga. Beat them and people will forget about Florida and bama immediately.

I did analyze the first half tape. He never looked anywhere else. I’m not blaming “this” on Joe. I am simple observing that in the Alabama game he only looked at one receiver. Every time.

Joe does half field reads, thats this offense. So if there is 3 WRs to the left side and a wide open one to the other and hes told to look left. Thats the only way he is going to look. It may seem hes staring down a WR based of the direction of his face mask, but he maybe looking at more than one. And by no means am i saying Joe is perfect. Hes not. Im just pointing out the WR talent was over exaggerated coming into the season.

Amazing people don’t remember that’s the same thing we did with Hendon. One side of the field was actually not in play.

Right, We had Bru and Hyatt for the majority of the season. Bru is excellent in blocking for screen passes. If you havent noticed. We have not thrown the screen pass as much since he got hurt, but last year we would screen screen, then go back to opposite side of field and over the top to Hyatt. Hyatt is doing the same thing to NFL defenses. We are missing both of those elements now.

bet you a hundo he gets drafted.look at the nfl qb.s starting right now.joe has more potential than half the starters on half the teams.
I’m thinking sometimes college ball doesn’t translate to pro ball at the QB position.. see Will Levis.. I thought he was freaking terrible at Kentucky and he actually had a good game and seems pretty good at the pro level (still don’t like him, though) lol

we have a lot of talent this year and even more coming in. All they need is coaching and experience. I am not that concerned about the WRs next year and in the future.

Scouts see the defense he faces (a lot of 2 & 3 deep coverage). Tennessee has faced a “light box” all year despite having the leagues top rushing offense. Doesn’t that make you wonder why?

Joe isn’t throwing to the WRs Hooker did LY. Hyatt gone, McCoy gone. Joe will get drafted, definitely if he continues to improve his short game. His game the last 2 weeks has been good.

I feel like them deciding to run him alittle bit has settled him in faster in games.

Correct, i think he is a late 2nd earlyer 3rd DAY guy. Imo. There will be a team to draft him as an experiment.

We ha
I have looked through a few threads and haven't really seen it noted. They talked about his running capabilities and the reporter mentioned that CJH had mentioned that he is finally healthy.

Now by all accounts he has had his troubles being a 6th year player. He is still not and will ever be Hendon Hooker. HH had more weapons and a better OL to work with. I would be hard pressed to think he will be passing for 300+ yards in any games left on the season.

Maybe we will see them open the offense on up now. How sweet would a 2RB set be with Sampson/Wright in the backfield/slot. Talk about a 3 headed monster.

We opened up again today with 35 pts at halftime. If we Ran the ball every play and scored, what would be our new thing to argue about?

Seems from the comments here that they want him to be benched. Dude was dropping dimes everywhere on Saturday. It's only UConn, but still, he was hitting receivers in stride down the sidelines and across the middle, and they were catching the ball. Great point in the season to be playing their best football, with Missouri on the road and Georgia coming up the next two weeks.
