Did anyone ever try to hire Fulmer away?

We knew he wouldn't take the East Tn State job because he can get a job anywhere. His name is mentioned nightly on ESPN every time a coaching job comes open.

Fulmer made UT a power house period. He was the top coach in college in the mid 90's. He is the reason UT is UT in this era. That being said I myself fired him many times while watching them on TV. But I got a lot of love for Phil and I know Volnation does to if you been around awhile. I see the same hunger in Butch as I did in Phil ...We have hope folks hang on.

Majors won 3 titles in 6 years ,got a feeling he set ole Phil up pretty well after he was run outta town

Well, Phil helped run him out of town but to be honest there aren't many on here who wouldn't have done the same! Having said that I was all for Majors to go when he was let go to. Just as with Phil.

That has got to be the most flawed reasoning used by multiple "fans" to justify the firing of Coach Fulmer. A SEC and National Championship coach was screwed over by his alma mater and he had the funds to retire. I suppose that does not settle well with those who need a reason to justify an event they favored balanced against the repercussions.

Actually heard recently his interest in an interim position at Arkansas post-Petrino was gauged. Evidently, he had no interest in any interim position.

Well, another head coaching opportunity lost for The Warden. Have a friend that is in the know about the Vandy goings-on and he said the 'Dores were no longer interested in Fill. It seems the scholastic side of the administration is very steadfast against Fulmer taking over their listing ship. They stated the way he dumbs his players down to underachieve on the football field....well....they're afraid that effect will carry over into the classroom.

This is a shame. I could see 'ol Phil now....standing on the bridge clapping as the Commodore ship is sinking.
