Sorry if this has already been discussed but I'm just wondering if CBJ tried to convince Fergy to stay?

If all of this was true about how he wanted things "handed to him" I would assume that CBJ could have figured it out quicker than just now.

Also, if he did have a poor attitude, why did TN not recruit a QB for the 2014 class?

Maybe there is really something more to this story than we think.

I refuse to wring my hands about why a Freshman that's never taken a snap transferred.

I told my 8-year old daughter about Fergy and she sang me the following advice:

"Let him go, let him go
Can't hold him back anymore
Let him go, Let him go
Turn my back and slam the door ..."

I'm just more concerned why we didn't recruit a QB for 2014 if he had such a poor work ethic and attitude. I don't think TN let Fergy leave with ease.

I'm not too concerned about the qb position. I think most people knew that one of the qbs would transfer this year(granted, most thought it would be Peterman, not Ferguson). We pick up a couple qbs for 2015 and that position will be fine as far as depth goes. As others have said, time to move on.

It's just dumb the way people can convince themselves via Youtube and amateur, secondhand practice reports that Jesus just left campus.

You know what they say. The most popular guy on campus with a struggling football team is one of the three backup quarterbacks.

Look he was injured last year when he was 2nd option, you always give a frosh the benni of the doubt...showing up 1st spring having not gain much weight or regular attending lifting..starts to show a pattern...to just get a recruit to be adding warm blood was not the answer if you didnt get a 4-5* recruit, because it would have effected this years recruiting...aka recruits...we need QB's...

Sounds like Fergie's grandpa is gonna grab him by the ear and take him back.....just like a scene out of Hoosiers.

Too bad you can't get a better read into the heads of these recruits till you gather them all together on the practice field and start practicing. This seems to be a case of one recruit that shouldn't have been here in the first place.

Another scholly next year for an able bodied replacement.

Hey had a Dooley mentality what more do you need to know. We wont be missing anything raw skills rarely enough to win. I'll take the workman like attitude of Worley and Dobbs any day of the week.

We are UT we shouldnt be begging too many players to stick around.

My only complaint with Butch (easier said than done) is that I think he shouldve somehow squeezed in a developmental QB last year. If Dobbs is the backup that moves Peterman to 3rd string its not out of the realm of possibility he transfers this summer as well. Then we are left with 2 scholly QB's.

This will likely free up a scholarship for Zack Gentry.

In 2015, with "WorleyBird" gone, the competition will be between Dobbs, Peterman and any new recruit that we bring in.

If I were a top recruit, I would want to be in that situation.

You hope someone with his talent will finally growup enough to accept what the coaches have been telling him from day 1. Some players don't get it and I think Ferguson is one of those.

Why would he make a case to keep a guy if he wasn't putting in the effort to be here? - not just to tag along but the fight to win the starting slot. This gives CBJ a good chance to refill the scholly this year with a 5* - and with the talent levels we are bringing in, it is all the more attractive to a super hot QB looking to start their 2nd year.

You could have easily recruited a top QB with them understanding they would redshirt.

And if he wasn't putting the effort in, wouldn't that make sense to at least recruit a QB knowing that he would have extra company for his own class?

Didn't Zach Gentry commit to Texas?

With a full roster of QBs, 2014 was all about getting the rest of the tools onboard. A great QB means nothing if you have no one to throw or hand off to. And, its easier to get a 5* when they can see that you will have that WR & RB talent already developed for them. So the focus on recruiting was not a QB - and I think by any measure, 2014 was a bumper crop for our recruiters.

Also, last year, Fergie may have gotten the benefit of the doubt. If he showed no improvement and effort into winter and spring, that indicates its time to go and we have plenty of time to put a full scale CBJ recruit show for TOP QB talent.
