The LVs looked very bad today-- not the loss, but the way they played and the way the coaches were ineffective in making adjustments and motivating the team. UT is now losing in-state recruits to competitive programs. When Crystal Dangerfield committed to UConn over UT, she said that she liked the LVs and had thought she would play for UT, but she hated to lose and UConn knew how to win, so she had to do what was best for her. Ouch.

Smart girl! She is only stating the obvious. It's obvious to everyone except the administration who is turning a blind eye to what's happening to the LVs.

We will not be a serious contender again until we get a new staff--a new coach who is both dynamic and brass tacks. Next year we lose Graves and have no one to replace her. I have no idea why we didn't play more zone today when that is by far our best defense, as was shown in the previous two games. Warlick not only has been over her head as head coach, but she has bad mojo too, with all the injuries/concussions. We are going south with her, which should not be surprising since she was a poor choice to begin with. And, yea, when UConn comes into our state and takes a top 5 player, then you know you've got problems.

The reasonwe didn't play zone was because they were draining threes from NBA range. We don't have shooters like that.

While we're recruiting, can we recruit a D1 top tier coach? Maybe Butch can recommend someone.

Tennessee was down 63-59 early in the 4th quarter. Syracuse proceeds to score 8 points in the next minute. No time out called. They continue their tear, and in a matter of five minutes stretch a 4 point lead to a 21 point lead. No time out was called. That is just flat out bad coaching. Holly called 1 timeout the entire game and it was midway through the 2nd quarter. Tennessee stopped looking for their post players after the post play is what allowed them to get to the Elite 8. Or how about not playing zone and provide a lot of perimeter pressure when Syrcause is shooting 50% from 3 and hits 14 on the day.

I think Syracused was easily the better team today and even if Holly made some adjustments and called timeouts, it may not have mattered. But the fact is, there were a LOT of things Holly could have done to make this a more competitive game.

Syracused!!! Now that's funny right there!

So, I guess we were "Hollycused"?

I said it another thread - CHW has proven that the E8 is her ceiling. For some reason, she cannot get over that hump and not only keeps losing in the E8, but is getting blown out EVERYTIME. Best path she may ever have to NC game and couldn't beat a slightly above average Syracuse team playing in its FIRST E8.

It won't happen, but there needs to be a change. If not at the top, then at least with the assistant, although CHW is too loyal and won't do that. How long has Lockwood been there and never even gets talked about for a HC job? That should say something right there.

This x1000 UConn came in the Lady Vols backyard and took a recruit....Pat never would have allowed that to happen...Holly needs an entire new staff...Hopefully Hart asks her to bring in a new staff in her end of the year evaluation

A new staff must include the head coach.

Cuse was just the better team... Hillsman had them motivated and those guards were just awesome the way those 3's were falling I don't think any team in America would've stood a chance... Still the way Tennessee beat ASU and OSU shows mass potential... 2017 should be the break out season.. I just hope they can get over the E8 slump... Mercedes please play all next season like you did against OSU and ASU...

Next season will be tougher than this year because they lose Graves. How do you replace that, unless you can find an Evelyn Akhator-type player in the JC ranks? If Holly can't get a strong JUCO, then she will probably have to use Kortney Dunbar at the 4 (If I'm Diamond or Jaime, I would transfer before being forced to play high post full time because Holly couldn't recruit for team needs).

The best scenario for the team as it stands is for the guards to develop into SEC-quality guards and learn how to pass, make layups, and hit open jump shots. This team will go no where next season unless the guards commit to becoming good players.

Te'a and Draya missed Mercedes about 8 times she was battling and they consistently missed her... Jordan hits Mercedes each and every time... these girls have some serious work to do

Time after time Tennessee would give the cuse guards just enough space to get off clean three point uncontested shots and most of them went in. When they were switching man to man there were a few times where they didn't switch fast enough which also gave the Syracuse guards enough time to get a nice three point shot off. There were no adjustments to this really and Syracuse just feasted all game long..the weak perimeter defense will probably be an issue next season as well. I also noticed that the Tennessee defenders would routinely go under the screen instead of over, especially carter.

Apparently we don't have defenders either man or zone defensive players. Or, it could be we don't have defensive coaches who can teach man or zone defenses.

I'm stunned that we played so much man defense when playing zone was huge in both the ASU and OSU wins. I did not see the second half of the 'cuse game, so don't know what defense we played during that time, but we played a lot of man in the first half--far too much. Also, our guards had a poor game. Carter did little and Cooper was pretty bad in this game on both ends of the floor--weak defense, 5 turnovers, 0 assists. Our defense was a big factor in the ASU and OSU wins, but we didn't have it against 'cuse, to say the least--they nearly scored 90 points! Absurd.

Someone said it above: Our guards need to start playing with more verve and passion. The 'cuse guards were fearless and feeling it. I'm disappointed in Carter: I've been a fan but she simply doesn't make plays; she seems to play scared offensively--afraid of making mistakes. She's a veteran guard and you gotta make plays sometimes--everybody does.

Will the tourney help with recruiting? It should help a bit. Getting to the Final Four would have helped a lot more. We've had three chances to do it with HW and are 0-3. All three losses were to solid teams but not exactly world-beaters. Neither Louisville or Maryland won the national title--I think both lost their first game in the Final Four--and 'cuse probably will too.
