I remember all the fans hitting the exits late in this game, I chose to stay.I remember the thousands of people who left who headed back to the stadium after the Arkansas fumble.Question is;Did you leave that game prior to the Arkansas turnover? If yes,did you regret it?

Those kind of games are the reason that I never leave early. Can you imagine how you would have felt about leaving the UF game early in 2004?

I was there. I stayed until the end. I sang "It's Great to be a Tennessee Vol!" along with thousands of others at the conclusion of the game.

People still bring up the fumble as the reason that Arkansas lost. However, I attribute the loss to their inability to stop Travis Henry on the game winning touchdown drive. That drive consisted of only 5 plays, covering 43 yards.... all of which were carries by Travis Henry.

I have a strong memory of that game. It was cold and wet. My family has seats up in QQ and I was in from Nashville with them. For some reason we didn't have an EMS person in our area and a rather large woman passed out in my row and became unresponsive. My mother freaked and I had to help this 250 puond + woman (me being 155) out of the upper deck to the strecher and on to the clinic in the stadium. I had just finished my ACLS (advanced critical life support) training for ICU. I thought there is no way this is happening. By the time I got back to my seats, the game looked like a loss. The woman ended up having flu like symptoms, dehydration, and a mild heart arrhythmia. With the way that game ended and the circumstances around the day, it left me with one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. I was so drained from what happened in the stadium, I wanted some air and listened to the call of John Ward as I looked at the stadium from Henley Street Bridge. When we took the lead on that TD plunge, the uproar was in a word heavenly.

Travis was equally as important no doubt.

My dad had gotten up to leave and we were walking down the stairs as it happened. My dad jumped higher than I ever thought he could.

I was there and stayed until the end.

I will admit I was taring at the ground in disbelief when the fumble happened, though.

i wasn't there....but i did get up and go outside and finish my beer and smoke a cigarette...when my room mate at the time opened the door and said we got the ball back...i called him a liar and flipped him off and drank my beer.

He finally got me to believe him, and i got to see the end of the game....couldn't believe it when i saw the replay of what happened.

The funny thing about the Stoerner fumble was I remember seeing Randall Cunningham do the same thing years earlier. It's almost physically impossible to hold onto a football when you put it on the ground to try and regain your balance. When Stoerner made that move and stuck the ball on the ground I remember thinking in that split second "Hey I've seen a guy fumble doing that . . . Holy @$#! He did too!"

I must credit my then girlfriend for me seeing the end of that game. After Arkansas stopped us on fourth down, I- 1. Launched into a profane tirade calling for the revocation of Steve Johnson's scholarship. 2. Called for a beheading of the officials for blatantly bumbling the call after the snap went over the punter's head. 3. Shattered a new pair of Ray Ban aviators. and 4. Got up to leave. Brandy, being a fine girl, reminded me that there was enough time that Arkansas might have to punt it back to us with about 25-30 seconds left. After telling her it didn't matter, I relented and we stayed. Just another advantage of having a sports saavy girlfriend.

still doesn't explain why Stoener wasn't protecting the ball better at that stage of the game. One of the most boneheaded plays I've ever seen by a QB. He gave that game away.

Can't disagree with that. It's funny hearing people justify to themselves that we "caused" Stoerner to fumble. Even though he was tripped by a lineman that got pushed into the backfield, it's absolutely inexplicable that he didn't just tuck the ball away and fall down.

I was watching the game at my dads house. I remember really being down (emotionally) before the half. We lost the feed to CBS, and we missed the TD to Peerless Price right before the half.(It was a similar play to the TD vs. FLA that year) So being down 21-10 seemed alot better, but still felt like Arkansas was having their way with us. Then when Tee ran it in from 4 yards out making it 21-17, I was thrilled. Arkansas got a FG and took a 7 point lead 24-17. When then later got a Jeff Hall FG cutting it to 4. Al Wilson later picked up a blocked FG and almost took it back. i felt like the game was ours. i just felt it. Arkansas later punted but the snap sailed over their punters head. He kcikced the ball from out of bounds at about the 2 yard line. We got 2 points, but we were supposed to be given the option of taking the ball where he kciked it from. Should have been 1st and goal from the 2 for the vols. Instead we get the ball abck and we stalled. Tee missing peerless on 4th down, I just sat in disbelief. Thinking this was the chance for a while that we could go undefeated. I just sat there hoping we could get the ball back with some time left. I felt like w/o the fumble we could still get the ball back. Anyway, Im still thinking it over and the the unthinkable happened. When Ratliffe fell on that ball, I went crazy as did my dad and our Jack Russell. Then they got a nice healthy dose of Travis Henry. And we all know the rest.

I had forgotten about the screwed up call on the Arkansas punt. I was absolutely livid.

Then you were not far from us. I was 8th row on the 47-48 yard line. The best seats I have ever had at Neyland and all I could think was "man I got dream seats and were gonna lose this!". I stayed until the end and when BR got the fumble man did I ever jump and yell. Awsome game.

Because of the screwed-up call on the Arkansas punt attempt, I have never viewed the fumble as us lucking out or us only winning because of a lucky fumble.

well, there's also that drive we had to make after recovering the fumble, to score a TD to win the game...the fumble didn't "give" us the game, but it did give us a chance to win it....we still had to score after that....

I was there. That was the loudest I can ever remember it there!! Probably the most fun game I have been to.

...and my drunk buddy screamed and yelled all the way back to Nashville because I think Florida lost a big game that day also to top it off. My right ear was ringing for about 3 days!!
