Condredge Holloway was my favorite Vol of the 70's, but I don't know if he had a paper route

I will agree with the concept of sticking to them. They should! But, the reality is that most of the football players that are freshman haven't met a junior or senior. End of story! That is where you get down to line play where we are supposedly weak. I don't think we are. Based on last years play we are. I'll agree. But, at the end of the day who knew Tee Martin would win a national championship. Maybe the underclassman have evolved and we will have a good or average lines on both sides of the ball this year! I think that is what it takes. We always have! GBO! :good!:

Translation: Don't pay attention to ESPN; they are selling headlines like kids slinging papers on street corner. Their predictions mean nothing; Peyton was considered a god but couldn't win a title. Tee was unknown and won one.

Here's the thing.. If you go back far enough Bama, LSU and Ole Miss were dominant and we were just under them. This was for a long period of time-maybe 20 years. Or longer. Then all of those programs went down and we maintained. The problem now is those and Fla and GA are domi.ant once again so we are not the elite.

At the beginning of the season, there were no high hopes for the 98 team. None, we lost Peyton and some other great players. Most fans were hoping we'd come away with fewer that 3-4 loses. You never know.

Was thinking about the 2000' team the other day. Similar situation, except they found themselves with no solution at QB until after 1/2 way thru the season. It's amazing how important quality at that position is.

In 98' Tee was just good enough to get us through the early gauntlet. The D played like a team. I have to say the coaching was excellent that year. We covered our QB weakness with good D until experience developed. Jamal gets hardly mentioned in 98', but he was the absolute focal point of defenses until after AU. Without the fear he brought, I see almost no way we beat SU or UF.

It was hard to imagine us beating UF that year, even at home. But finally we made the big plays (Al and Deion's takeaways, a 50yd TD on a FB handoff & Tee's blind bomb to Peerless) instead of Florida. UF was freaking stacked that year, but fortunately got some of our medicine.
