you need to check out PowerStrokeArmy. Any question you have will be answered if it hasn't already. I would recommend getting another chip and oil changes are important to HEUI injectors.

No, and what would that entail?

Cut the cat off, cut the muffler off. Replace pipe by going to the muffler shop and welding in new pipe or you can buy flex pipe and clamp it in its place.

More mpg's, quicker turbo spool, and it sounds better :)

You will also notice a quicker throttle response. If you are going to chip the truck I highly recommend this. If not the more fuel that's added will cause the egt's to get higher quicker which is a no no. Let that thing breath.

Btw. The 7.3 powerstroke came off the assembly line making 500 hp. Due to regulation the engines were de-tuned. They can handle it.

Edit to add: you should be able to unbolt the cat. Take a hammer and a rod and beat all the crap that is inside it, out. Bolt it back on.

That's kind of what I figured, I know of a good muffler show in town that I would assume could do all that. How much do you think it would cost?

If you clean out the cat/resonator and re-install it, that will save the labor and pipe for that section. I wouldn't think no more than 50-60 bucks to do it all. What you gain in performance and mpg's it's well worth the money.

I have a buddy who knows a lot more about all this than I do. He could probably do some of it. Thanks for the advice.
