Difference between Felix vs Aidoo

In this matchup AIdoo won.. by a lot.

Okpura contributed 10 and 4 on 50% shooting.thats actually close to normal except for the low fg% (he's averaging 7 and 6 on 62%). Aidoo went 4 points 5 boards and shot 66% bombed on the freethrow line. Sounds like I'm losing this argument huh? But, he had 2 steals and 3 blocks with 2 fouls.. those are crazy nice numbers for his role. Flip them on rosters and this game is more like 90-40 instead of 76-52.

Losing Awaka and Aidoo sucks badly. That being said I think we won overall in the exchange because the guys we brought in fit well and I think Dubar gets better as the season goes on. We traded AIdoo and Awaka for Okpara that's a push because between what Okpara brings and how Philips has stepped up we are actually in a slightly better situation when you factor in Milicic who replaced JJJ. Lanier for DK so far is a wash also if you factor in Gaineys improvement. Dubar,if he can step up, is what makes the difference here. I think he can and will. Phillips is my low key MVP this season as far as my expectations and his delivery.
Not sure what game you watched but you are so far off I’m not even sure where to start. How you think the score would have changed in our favor if we switched the centers is crazy. Just see how many offensive rebounds Aidoo had to prove how soft he is. I’ll give you a clue, it is less than one.

I think it's a bit of an apple to orange comparison. Aidoo loves playing 10-15 ft from basketball (or farther). We don't need that on this team. Okpara rolls and finishes harder than Aidoo-- that's a better fit on the current team. Both are good help defenders. Okpara is a stronger on ball defender. Looking at each player on their own, Aidoo is better. But concerning the fit and how it works in our current team, I think Okpara is better for us.

I’d agree we definitely upgraded with Felix and Igor. Igor has that European edge to him (which I LOVE) and Felix seems to understand his role and playing it well. Aidoo seems to be confused oftentimes on his role. I too wish him well but when he shot that 3 ( I know it was getting little late in shot clock) if I’m Cal…he’s sitting on the bench rest of the game. Aidoo IMO should finish every game with 4 fouls from physical play. Love Vols team so far…BTW…Rick does too!!
Igor was not an upgrade for anyone that left in portal. He replaced JJJ. Okpara replaced Aidoo (aidoo has played better/equal to okpara) Phillips/Estrella replaced Awaka. Estrellas injury has made that a slight L. Cade has played awesome. Estrella was playing well also. Aidoo and Awaka have both played extremely well in their new destinations (post Aidoo injuries). This game Aidoo put on a show. Be honest 2 steals 3 blocks and 2 fouls in a win.. AIdoo puts up those numbers in a W last year no matter his offensive output he's on a pedestal. Be consistent.

Felix is more athletic. Aidoo is more offensively skilled. Both have the tendency to disappear, albeit I think for different reasons. I think Felix probably fits this team better than Aidoo.

If you could combine the two guys and give the result the energy and aggressiveness of Cade Phillips, you’d really have something.

Don’t disagree with anything but the bold. What makes you think that so far this year?

Igor - Awaka and Dubar/Mashack minutes - James is a closer comparison. Igor is 6’11. He’s a frontcourt player. James was a wing who sometimes played the 4 when we went small.

Awaka was backup center. he did somewhat backup JJJ but that was secondary. You could at best put Phillips/Dubar this year in his role. Who they are in measurements makes no difference its the role they play. Mashacks role this year is just more and better of Mashack last year. Lets be clear I do not think that Okpara is an L. He plays a vital role on this team and if he goes down we are in trouble.

Awaka is a full on loss. Frist off because of how/why he left. Aidoo is a low key push. Talent wise I would have loved to keep him but he was never here. As far as I have followed Awaka left for legit (though sucky) reasons he is a VFL in my mind. Aidoo was a mercenary and there's nothing wrong with that but he left for money plain and simple he is only a loss on talent. Chemistry is a big thing on a CRB team. we need buy in. I personally think given the situation things turned out as well as they could have. Okpara is bare minimum what should have been expected and is a contributor on this team. Igor has stepped into a role he hadn't proven he could based on past production and his past production shows he can improve on the scoring part. Lanier is at the very least in a DK type conversation DK did more offensively but Lanier has shown out on the defensive end more. Dubar is sitting on an incomplete, his situation has lead to understandable setbacks. Again, the story is Philips/Estrella/Gainey. Their development cements the fact this staff develops players. I was very down on expectations for Phillips and Estrella in the offseason and have a big fat crowpie for each of them to eat.

honestly i don't think your idea of how things are going and mine are that far apart I think its down to semantics.

I don’t view Awaka as much of a loss. Tough guy but just can’t stay on the floor. Way too foul prone. Will take the new and improved Phillips all day. And I’ll take Felix all day as well over Aidoo. At least he looks like he wants to be out there. Jonas looks like he’s daydreaming half the time. Milicic is the big addition. He’s better than all of them and flexible enough to effectively play 3 positions. We traded up in all positions inside.

Curious the boards thoughts on the differences between the two. My eyes see Felix as more athletic and active than Aidoo. I’m also not sure Aidoo has lifted a weight since he decided to leave Knoxville. To be clear, I don’t necessarily think Felix is a ton better… just think his motor revs higher than Aidont.

Aidoo is far more offensively skilled. Okpara is better defensively, a better rebounder, and as you said, plays with more intensity.

Honestly, if you could marry their skills together, you'd have an elite college center.

Well….ok. I’ll see my way out. We’ll just disagree I suppose😳😳.

I agree. Those points are about as clear as they get. Igor is a beast. 13 pts /18 rebounds will win a lot of ballgames!

You have to be kidding.

Aidoo: 0 ORebs on 33 opportunities.

Okpara and Milicic ate him alive on the boards.

You really have a knack for adopting the contrarian side of most arguments, but to say Aidoo won this battle by a lot is ridiculous.

Other than a stray game where he knocks down a 15 footer or 2, can you expand on the “far more offensively skilled”.

Better way to ask the question is who would make the better pro right now? Keeping in mind Aidoos 15 ft jumper only showed up ever 5-7 games, same w the jump hook. His gait is nowhere near the player of Okpara in overall game. Imo
