Dino Gaudio Fired at Wake Forest

Do you think that Mark Few would ever make the jump to an ACC school? I mean, he has been very successful, but the ACC could be a big stage for him, and I'd be interested to see how he did at a school like Wake.

Being a student at Wake, I was really glad to see Dino go. He did not mold his coaching style to adapt to the players he had available to him. He had the potential with an incredibly athletic team to run a good full-court press. But he stuck to his belief in a solid half court defense, which we did extremely well but a press would have been better (as was Prosser's modus operandi). As for Wake's next coach, I could only speculate. I've heard rumors around campus and from a booster that say the Tubby or Rick Barnes are possibilities because of their connections to the area (Tubby who attented High Point University and Barnes who attended Lenoir-Rhyne). However, I believe both to be highly unlikely. I expect Wake to replace Dino with a "solid" hire not a "home-run", one of the people that comes to mind is Brad Brownell the Wright State coach...Either way, loosing Ish Smith will be the biggest loss to this team. Al-Farooq was only a fair player and never really was into many games. Next year will be a struggle, but I am ECSTATIC I will never have to watch Chas McFarland play another game...

I think Few is happy where he is. He can basically win his conference every year. Decently recruit in an area where the teams are down (UW, WSU, OR, ORST). And he gets paid a boatload of money.
Wake could pay him the same if not more, but he would have to go up against the recruiting giants of UNC and Duke every year; Have a brutal schedule; somewhat higher expectations. Basically almost everything the opposite of the situation he's in now.

Jeff Bzdelik to Wake. This will turn out well for multiple parties. Bzdelik will do a fine job for the folks in Winston Salem and whoever steps in at Colorado will have the chance for a Jerry Green style windfall. The heavy lifting in the rebuilding process has already been done and the Big 12 won't be near as daunting next year. Here's hoping they either promote Steve McClain, who never should have been fired by Wyoming, or hire former UT Director of Basketball Operations Tad Boyle.
