dion bailey gone. what about scroggins?

People said if scroggins made his commitment early, then it would probably be a double committment featuring dion bailey. If dion bailey decided to announce now instead of waiting to hear about scroggins, what does this say about our chances of still winning scroggins from usc. it looks as if our chances are getting worse. i was really hoping we would get dion(one of my favorite prospects in this class). what do you guys think will happen with scroggins. any thoughts or encouraging news is appreciated.

i think scroggins is USC bound. which at best gives him maybe 2 years to play. the smart move would be to come play in the SEC, but i don't see it happening.

"USC is one of the top academic schools in the nation," said Harold. "Living in Southern California; or wanting to live in Southern California in the future, a degree from USC carries more weight than Tennessee, North Carolina or wherever else you may go. I'm all about the education." Dion Bailey's dad

I can't say I agree with Dion's dad about the weight of college degrees.

He's not going to be a Vol guys. Just let it go! We're going to have to wait and see how the senior qb's shake out in 09. Hopefully there will be one who has a break out year and we can snatch him up. But for now we'll just have to continue to play the waiting game.

He cannot be a Vol. I believe I remember him making disparaging remarks about UT coaches--something to the effect that our coaching staff will probably get into trouble for recruiting violations and he didn't want to deal with that. This was in a KNS article last week. Sorry, I don't have a link to it. How can he come here after saying that? Ironic that he would say that about UT and go to USC, the mother of all violators, outside of Bama.

Forget this guy and, as Brave Vol said, one of literally hundreds of high school QBs will play this year and some will break out and have great years. We will be in a good position to get them.

Let Scroggins wither away on the bench at USC. His grandstanding will be over after the 25th unless he decommits or something.

It would have helped recruiting if he committed, but this staff has shown they will recruit. Have faith.

I say lets quit worrying bout scroggins and play football...And I'm a graduate of UT and just because you go to a school doesn't mean that your better unless you are going to an IVY league school, then it really doesn't matter what school you go to.

GET AN EDUCATION!!!

Different situation entirely. For one, the only school we were battling to get BB from was Oregon. I felt that our chances were pretty good competing with them. Here we are competing with the top 2 most successful programs in college. Plus I thought the fact that BB delayed his decision apart from signing day was to the Vol's favor.

I agree with what you said, but my point was that people on the message boards were saying "who cares what BB does?", "we don't need him" when he was playing his game and not signing; then we got him and everyone was all about it. We are going against two great schools, but we need a QB much more than they do. I'll be interested to see how this turns out, but wouldn't be disappointed if he goes to one of the other two. I'm still a big fan of signing Cam Newton and seem to be in the minority on that thought, so what do I know?

Heck, at USC, they take classes like meditation, joint rolling, tree hugging, boosting the national debt, and living by candlelight. No wonder CA is bankrupt!:eek:lol:

Come to Tennessee and get a real education!

haha quit being so soft-spoken. how do you really feel?

no but i will assume you are in the architecture program and it is indeed very highly ranked

haha yea, our program is a good one. one of the many excellent programs UT has to offer. i just dont like the stereotype of the sec and southern schools in general getting a bad rap when compared to other school around the country. im just proud of UT. thanx though. are you a student as well?

Ok... USC academically isn't exactly an ivy league school... At best it is on par with UT, UNC however is the strongest of of the three academically.

None of us have any idea what Jesse will decide. He has a tough decision that will determine his athletic and educational future. I don't know if he will decide for sure until signing day. Why should he? Just ask BB !

Though Bailey commited to USC don't count out Scroggins coming to UT -- He has not made up his mind yet -- I believe he wants to start as a freshman and that will not happen at USC

This time last year Bryce Brown was a solid commit to Miami.... Still a lot of time for things to unfold...

All three schools have good programs and likely some joke programs. In terms of rankings though, USC is 27th / UNC is 30th and UT is lower. I think Bailey's dad's point is that if his kid wants to live in LA, then a USC degree is very helpful all else equal. A UT degree would serve someone better in Atlanta or Nashville. All else, however, isn't usually equal when talking about a major college QB recruit. Unlike mere mortals, he's got other things going on besides academics and won't simply count on the name on his degree to get him a job post graduation. He wants to be in the NFL and needs to weigh things including coaching and playing time.

Thanks Raw23! He will definitely get a opportunity to do it here. It would be great to still reel in your nephew on signing day too. I wish him the best of luck though.
