DirecTV Now?

And I don't really get the fascination with DVR hrs anyway given the amount of On Demand content.

Most of the time you can skip through commercials on DVR material. Most of the time you cannot skip commercials with OnDemand shows.

Just noticed that DirecTV Now in Birmingham has all major networks locals - CBS was the hold out but we have it now. Picture quality is still better OTA (over the air - antenna) but it's great to not need all TVs connected to an antenna

Only issue I have with DTN is live broadcasts are slightly delayed (15-20 seconds) and occasionally while watching sports I've gotten a "Did you just see that?" phone call.... and about that time I see it.

That is true with any streaming service

Does this happen on regular DirecTV as well or does the signal come in about the same time as cable networks?

My experience has been that satellite usually runs 5-10 seconds behind cable and streaming services run about 15-30 seconds behind.

My brother and Dad both have regular Directv and they were both 15 seconds or so behind the cable signal I had.

Oh swell, now I'll be that guy that gets touchdown texts from family before I actually see it.

It's not quite that bad, but if your stream buffers very much (which rarely happens), at the next commercial I'd change channels and then comeback to refresh the stream. If you're not careful, you can fall behind 30-45 seconds or more and not even realize it.

So I'm watching the FAU/ OU game and hit the guide on the remote and it had all the other football games queued up. Is it that intuitive? If so, that's pretty cool!
