Don't know if this is going on in other parts of the country with Directv, but they are in a childish contract dispute with the local ABC station. Hence we don't get any football games broadcast on ABC or any ABC programming for that matter.

Also, they still don't carry the PAC-12 Network. Will be firing the scumbags shortly.

Any live games on ABC is also on espn3. And you get that with your directv subscription or any cable/satellite subscription.

An Antenna can get the local ABC, CBS and NBC channels

SEC network did that down here in Florida for a few years ago, would have missed all the games if it wasn't for a comcast account I know of from SC. After the season..they got back into the pissing match and you couldnt watch any SEC stuff including spring games.

Directv is just BS.. I'm firing them at the end of the month. And will do everything I can to discourage others from using them. Just scum...............

They have to pay for the programming from ABC due to copyright. If that price goes up so does your bill. For example a small cable company here locally added NFL Network the other day to their lineup. They had been putting off doing this for years. The end result was $8 added to every customers bill

That has nothing to do with the problem. My bill is already close to $200 a month, $8 isn't a big deal. I'd pay for the programing, but Directv doesn't offer the programing.

The problem is between the local ABC provider and Directv. They refuse to come to an agreement. Then when you start looking at Directv's track record, they are developing a culture of trying to bully providers.

No I don't I'm just telling you why you don't have ABC. Just know that you will get it back eventually.

I do understand what you are trying to say. One thing to consider, the package I pay for agrees to provide the all the local channels. Failure to provide what I'm paying for is breach of contract. Sitting around waiting for them to "eventually" provide what I'm paying for just doesn't work.

It's the station that is refusing to allow DTV to broadcast, not the other way around.

More than likely you will be without it til around October or November then they will sign a 2 year agreement. Then you won't have to worry about it for a while.

A simple understanding of how products and services are bought and sold.

You mean, one person puts a price on a product or service and another agrees to purchase that product for that price... Or do you mean something else, cause I'm beginning to doubt that you do understand how products are bought and sold.

This issue is a contractual agreement issue for products and services that were previously under contract. The sides don't agree on the price for the services. Yet, I'm paying Directv for a service they agreed to provide and they are not meeting that obligation.

Or doesn't agree, as is the case here.

As a DTV customer, I can promise you that your agreement says (paraphrasing) "channel lineup subject to change." DTV doesn't get to dictate the price of a certain station's broadcast fees. They can negotiate, but not dictate. If they can't come to an agreement, they can't show the station's content.
