Several of us Vol fans were standing around discussing the loss to ND and a couple of the guys seem to think that there is no reason to even care about the rest of the season since an MNC is out of the question. My argument was that with several undefeated teams left this late in the season we didn't have a shot at the MNC anyway and asked how many of them REALLY thought we'd be at 7-2 with wins against UF, UGA, AND Bama and a shot at the SECG. They seemed to think that if we had beaten ND we'd have actually been in contention for a national championship. Did any of y'all feel that way prior to yesterday's loss? Not once this seaon have I contemplated a national championship. I was/am just thrilled that we did as well as we did with two freshmen QBs.

LIO, there are a lot of Vol fans that need to really take a reality check. Even before the injuries, anybody who didn't expect a game like yesterday was kidding themselves. You can't run true freshman out at QB all season long and not expect games like that. Just be thankful that we still have a shot at the SEC despite it all.

Second guessers and band wagoners be damned; there's no way you can write off a season where you have the inside track at the SECCG. Anybody that tells you that they expected us to have a shot at an SEC title is lying.

We were picked to finish no better than 3rd in the SEC this year (some even picked USC to overtake us).

But after home wins against UF and Bama, road wins against UGA, and USC, we are poised to go to Atlanta as East Division champs.

Going there is Great. WInning it would be outta this world. A MNC was way beyond my comprehension.

Ill take the SEC East division first. After that, its gravey!!!

I can't really see us losing to Vandy or Kentucky, even with Rick Clausen. But there is no way we can beat Auburn without one of our frosh QBs.

Depends on if our defense can play a lot better than the first time they played. Im enthused about what theyve done yesterday. But Auburn is a great, physical team. If the VOLS can stand toe-to-toe against Auburns offense, we might just pull it out.

100% On The Money. We are exceeding expectations. We went the tween the hedges and won, beat the gayers and made folks cry down in T-town. Now were poised for a rematch in the SECCG with Auburn. That should be plenty - considering where we were predicted to finish.

We better not go into conservative run mode or Vandy will put 10 or 11 in the box and shut down the run!! :cross:

they would have done that anyway.... Clausen will get enough snaps in practice to be ready for Vandy

Clausen wasnt that bad folks. I mean 1 INT. Hell, you would think Ainge should have put up 35 before he got injured. He wasnt, and hasnt, been lighting up the scoreboard lately. Yes, he did represent the best chance for UT to win, but ND was there to play. We know what happens when Ainge feels heat.

Just goes to show how all important the veteran center is to the offensive line. Respert should be good to go before Vandy. Thank goodness!! :D

Fact 1 : ND is a 2nd tier team that UT shouldn't have lost to.
Fact 2 : The O-Line plain SUX.
Fact 3 : with a win Yesterday UT would still have had an outside shot at the NCG.
Fact 4 : Play calling has gotten progressively worse.
Fact 5 : Neither the Vandy nor the Kentucky game are sure Wins in fact look for UT to lose 1.
Fact 6 : While the ND game was going to be hard fought and close Fulmer and his offensive staff was owned by ND's D coordinator.

After we beat UGA, I felt like it was possible that we could be in contention for the national championship, but only with the help of other teams losing.

Now, it is even still possible we get into one of the BCS bowls if we win the SECCG.

This season has been wonderful so far. The only drawback being the injuries to the freshmen QBies. My goodness who in their right mind saw this team even having a slight chance of being in the SEC Champ. game back in July?? Go Vols!!

hold on TVOLS

What about our defense not being able to tackle all year. Even Kevin Burnett look like he was half assing it. Yeah we could have won. But it was gonna take a team to do it. Ours didn't. But you know what I am gonna yell and cheer just as loud for Clausen or Bo and try to pull out a victory. If ya wanna fire the coaches and bench the whole team the take the Crimson covers off of ya head and wake up from your bammer dream...

These are MY Vols and I am gonna yell holler and cheer for them with every drop of blood I have. No matter if Kevin Simon lines up at QB next week,

IF YA AINT HOLLERIN FOR MY BOYS IN ORANGE, YOU AINT A FAN.

ND had what 25 yards offense in the 3rd and 4th quarters?? That defense looked pretty darn good to me! Gave us a chance to win in spite of a woeful offense yesterday!!

Yeah, it seemed to me the D cranked it up in the 2nd half for sure. Man, I'm glad we have Mahelona!!!! and everybody else on the D. I'm even pleased with the secondary considering their youth, inexperience, and instability... they have come a long way.

Alabama wannabe volunteer you don't like what I said then go ahead and bury your head in the sand and pretend everything is just fine. But the things I said are facts! unlike the putrid crap that you just typed about what I said and I guess you need to learn to READ since nowhere did I say fire ANYONE. The tackling may be bad but here is another FACT BUCKO CRIMSONBOY - the defense gave UP 10 points and that is the bottom line. Now where in your deluded upbring did I say anything about the QB's. As far as I'm concerned from now on your pst will be ignored by me because obviously you know nothing about the game of football.

Very true... as good as I think the D has played lately, their tackling is often poor, and they have yet to pitch the yearly shutout. Looks like they MAY be able to pull that against UK or Vandy, but no gurantees.

I thought from the pre-season we would win the SECE! All I did was look at the team last year and looked at what we had coming back! We looked ok everywhere on the field except in the secondary where we are coming around the corner now!

And CJ Leak and Rick looked good in the Spring so I figured we would be ok in the Fall not to mention we have the best and deepest WR's in the country!!
