Disney: The Most Evil Business In The World

How much more mileage can people get from a fired CEO? Even Ronny D has said he wants to move on (of course he was only dogging Dis because he thought it would make him POTUS).

Disney Board Wants To Hide Political Donations, Spending On Sex Changes From Shareholders, Docs Reveal

The Walt Disney Company board wants to hide key financial data from the public, particularly as it relates to their funding of the transgender movement and donations to political candidates, documents reviewed by the Daily Caller reveal.

The 2024 proxy vote ballot for Disney’s annual shareholder meeting, scheduled for April 2, reveals the board doesn’t want the public, or even their own shareholders, to know how much Disney spends on “gender transition compensation and benefits” for its staff. Despite the board’s suggested vote to shareholders, the National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC) and National Center for Public Policy Research (NCPPR) are urging the company to release the data.

In Disney’s 2024 “Notice of Annual Meeting of Shareholders and Proxy Statement,” Disney details how the NLPC and NCPPR notified the company that they intend to present proposals focused on these issues. Within the same document, Disney “affirms” that people who suffer from gender dysphoria can “transition to a different sex.” However, “an increasing body of scientific evidence shows no benefits result from such medical treatments,” the NLPC argues. They go on to cite the European and American medical community’s “increasing” caution about gender-transition “therapies.”

‘Mary Poppins’ Slapped With PG Rating For ‘Racism’

The rating for a classic children’s film has been increased in the United Kingdom for using a term that a film classification group considered “racially insensitive.”

On Friday, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) raised the rating for Disney’s Mary Poppins from Universal (U) with “no material likely to offend or harm” to Parental Guidance (PG) for “discriminatory language,” according to the organization’s website. Films rated U are considered “suitable for audiences aged four years and over,” while the BBFC’s definition of PG notes that “some scenes may be unsuitable for young children.”

A spokesperson for the BBFC noted the 1964 Disney musical “includes two uses of the discriminatory term ‘hottentots,'” according to a statement provided to the entertainment news site, Variety.

We were at Disney over spring break. They are absolutely not going broke
It may seem that way since their parks are crowded but they have actually come up on hard financial times. ESPN went woke and that has been a financial disaster. They have had massive layoffs in all their divisions and had to bring back the former CEO to right the ship. He has publicly stated that more layoffs are ahead before the company is on better financial ground. They have cut $2Billion so far. Now they lost their right to self-govern in Florida along with special tax rates they had to avoid paying normal business taxes. Like any company, they should have kept their mouth shut about Politics. It's not good for business. It's also not good for the many employees that lost their jobs because of their incompetent management.

Yeah, the parks are what's keeping disney afloat right now. They've lost billions from streaming and their movies in 2023.

the whole reedy creek governance has been a debacle for disney. Ive watch some videos concerning their audits anf they've done some serious shenanigans. It will be interesting to see what happens with the audit.

Interestingly, i learned that they will actually slow rides, use less ride carts, etc.. to keep their line waiting times longer. I dont know how people can afford to visit that place now.

Streaming isn't dragged down by the petty fight with the FL gov. Running Reedy creek also costs the state money now. There may be other reasons but the parks aren't hurting like other segments. But hey, it did show the govs true big govt colors and cost him a WH bid.

Going after Disney too hard will hurt the residents. One would think the govt is mindful of that

Disney did it to themselves. They thought they were too big and powerful to question. They even threatened to move to another state and which was never a possibility and never financially possible. Again, Disney is hurting because they have incompetent management and have gone woke and it's cost them in all areas of their business. The parks are not going bankrupt and may well have improved finally but in no way was it a good business decision to wade into politics. It cost people their jobs and cost Disney a lot of money and their ability to self govern. Spin it all you want, but DeSantis and the State of Florida won and Disney lost and it wasn't even close.

It cost DeSantis a white house run. He didn't win. The local counties are also on the hook for increased services which hurts. Florida needs Disney more than the other way

nah, it's not going to hurt florida residents anymore than before. Reedy creek did not uphold their deal when it came to governing themselves. going after disney did not hurt him for president, that's way down the list.

Disney paid taxes to Orange County, Osceola County, and what used to be the Reedy Creek Improvement District.

Your bolded statement is false. When Disney was allowed by law to self-govern through RCID they paid more than their fair share of taxes.

Some got their right wing narrative talking points covered. Facts be dammed..

They have not lost the right to the DOUBLE taxation agreement they've had for decades. The only difference is Ron's friends and donors now have high paying jobs to try and figure out how to issue permits and do Disney's waste management.

Disney's big problem is actually not lost business but rather overspending/poor management.

Films are still bringing in money but they are spending 2x to 3x what other companies spend, etc.

Disney+ is just not landed the subscribers that they want and the shows they put out are expensive, overbudget, and not drawing the eyeballs. (I think Disney overplayed their hands with Disney+). They are tagging Hulu onto it now so we will see how that goes.

ESPN has been a sinking ship for a long time. The reasoning is the content, outside of live sports, just doesn't draw eyeballs. Youtube streamers have more interesting sports content now.

Woke hasn't helped but it isn't the backbreaker that is causing the Financial concerns at Disney. The only area you can, maybe, argue that is being hurt by Woke is LucasFilms who has isolated most of their diehard fans (notably for Star Wars). However, I think the Star Wars content just has not been well written and relies to much on fan nostalgia. Star Wars struck lightning in the bottle with the original Trilogy which checked all the boxes but has struggled to live up to the quality of those films (Rogue One by Disney is the closest movie to the original on quality and it is mostly because it dials into the same themes and approach as the original Trilogy).

I think Trump had more to do that with anything. Sadly, the Trump/MAGA branch was too powerful for any Republican candidate to get traction in the party.

Anything coming out of Lucas Films (with exception of merchandise) is a disaster these days. I feel like both Star Wars and Indiana Jones hit lightning in the bottle in the 1980s and it is just very hard to replicate the success of the original trilogies for both series. They are still a money maker for merchandise and branding, but I just don't see a film coming out of any franchise that can meet the quality of the originals anytime soon.

It would take a very different style, team, etc. to get the recipe that made these stories a success back.

You see the same issue with Terminator, Ghostbusters, Predator, Aliens, and most other 1980s franchises.

The Star Wars tv shows has been highly regarded by most fans much more than the recent films outside Rogue One.
