Exactly, to bemoan or boast the fact that school A ranked at # 4 while school B was #7 is , well, stupid.

Give me a team that was ranked 4th over a 4 year period and play a team that was ranked 35th over a 4 year period, and I would put a azz kicking on them they wont forget, so it does matter, you got to have a average of a top 10 recruiting class over a long period of time to compete year in year out, we will be half way after this recruiting class, but we are coming and bringing future first round draft talent with us.:good!:

But are you certain your 4th ranked team would beat his 7th ranked team?

Of course the ratings and rankings have meaning, but they are probabilities, not certainties. So many variables never enter the equation.

Take USCe last class, one third may not qualify.

Yes top 10 classes help your team's chances, but it's silly to nit-pick 3 or 4 spots in the rankings as if it really mattered.

Point is the services are selling their products and there's nothing wrong with that. If a fan chooses to get all tore up about their opinions or methods, maybe they need a different hobby. Again, JMO.

I have heard CBJ say they don't give out committable Scolly unless they have seen the player work out in person, they may use the recruiting services to find kids but putting an Eye on them is the best way to really know.

You hit the nail on the head. I've have heard coaches in the past make a lot of fun about the services basically saying the guys are just wannabe's who can only spot the obvious. Some have said if the guys knew squat about players they would be making more money on some team's staff.
