Do we have the worst talent in the SEC?

Coaching can compensate for a lack of talent. Just look at what James Franklin did at Vandy his first year.

Keep in mind Franklin benefited from playing historically bad Arkansas, Auburn and Tennessee teams and didn't beat a team with a winning record if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, he still did a good job, but florida and oregon's talent is much, much better than ours.

I think Dooley is one really bad coach. I think Kiffin is an abomination.

But some people have dared to suggest we have the worst talent in the SEC.

If that is the case, then the next person who says "but we were starting the Sullin brothers" on this forum should be banned forthwith.

It is not the worst talent in the SEC. Right now though, either Butch outkicked his coverage in the offseason, or the stink of Dooley and Kiffin is so strong, we are going to have to wash this team out in tomato sauce to get rid of the skunk.

Kentucky, Miss St and Missouri have worse. That's it.

QB: Awful.. all of them are awful. Peterman, I won't even mention. Worley that throw off his back foot was hillarious. Would have been picked off more if he played the whole game.

RBs: completely average.. no big playmaking ability here. average.

WRs: no playmakers. North has a bright future.. Pig is alright.

TEs: do we even have any? lol.

O line: Overrated.

Defense:

DL: not very good. we can get penetration sometimes, and not any other times. it just depends. we are really thin here as well.

LBs: Slow. AJ is slow and whiffs a lot on tackles. Bad in coverage.

CBs: Slow. played alright today, but they take horrible angles on tackles and have seen this happen for years now.

We're just not good. Mix this in with a really average special teams with no one with playmaking ability and you get a 4 or 5 win team. Stop being in denial volnation. we have little to no talent.

This is the truth, but it hurts so bad.

Seriously though. .our players may not be sec caliber but the playcalling has been atrocious. I really don't see much improvement happening anytime soon..... not being a negavol but it's hard to have hope
Explain what plays would make up for limited quarterback ability, average running backs, an underperforming offensive line and unproven receivers.

I have seen Kentucky once this year and they have more playmakers than we do at this point.

If it weren't for Pig Howard, we wouldn't have a single offensive highlight for the entire game.

We won't see a defense like we saw today till Bama so Our offense will seem improved just based on that.

Nah not the worst. We have terrible depth though at some key positions and a grind of a schedule. We're in the bottom two or three in talent in the sec and have one of the toughest schedules in the country. It may get worse before it gets better. The defense keeps getting put out there every game for insane number of play and the injuries will make us even worse

knowing all of this you can't even be mad at butch

That's exactly right, so chill. You may not be used to UT winning, but the type of recruiting Butch is pulling off gives a lot of hope for the future. Even the "all star team" Kiffin brought in wasn't recruiting like Butch is now. We have some good players, we just lack the depth across the board to compete with the big boys. Obviously the former should take care of the latter.

Those kids gave it their all, they never gave up...that's a lot better than what I've seen the past few years. Butch is a winner, he will win here. Kiffin and Dooley were never winners as HCs. I still have hope we are in good hands for the future. No sense bashing everything about the VOLS, dig down deep and have some pride.

We do not have the worst talent.

But we do have the worst developed talent.

Raw talent, we have a lot of it. We have athletes, just not enough of them.

We have great talent, that would work well in other systems. But not Butch's. That's why we're having such problems.

You saw it last year. Good talent on defense, much of the same players we have right now. But not suited for a 3-4 at all.

System makes a difference. We have talent. We don't have depth. And we don't have the stability.

Remember, most of these players were recruited for Wilcox's defense, and some were recruited for a 3-4 defense, and then some for Jancek's. So, it's a toss up.

I'd say Kentucky probably has the worst talent, due to poor recruiting. But we are not at all untalented. It's just talent that is not properly used.

oh.. and no playmakers at all. neal and lane = average. o line = overrated.

no recievers. North has a bright future, Croom inconsistent.. pig is alright but can't really make it happen by himself.

On D our secondary is trash absolutely awful and SLOW. D line is below average. linebackers suck for the most part

:good!:

Hey nub, don't you know coming on VN with logic and straight forward analysis will get you ridiculed?

2009 we had 2 NFL running Backs in Hardesty and Brown.

2009 NFL receiver and tight end in Moore and Stocker plus Gerald Jones all JR's.

2009 NFL QB in Crompton

2009 2 First round draft picks on Defense in EB and Williams.

2013 WR's FR and So's I do think we have some talent.

2013 RB we are not very talented

2013 QB well you seen it today.

2013 Defense this is the slowest D in the SEC we have no speed, I do not think we have a SR or JR that will be drafted in the NFL on D, heck we may not have a SO that will be drafted.

If you think this team has more talent then the 2009 team you are crazy, this may be the worst roster I have seen in my lifetime.

If Bray, Hunter and CP had come back we may be sitting 3-1 tonight, we lost a lot of firepower on offense.

We are 2-2 that is what everybody expected us to be, should be 3-2 after next week.

The only TN player I saw today that showed any SEC skill at all was Pig Howard.

And it's so ironic that Palardy seems so solid now.

Eddie, Eddie, Eddie

We have the most inexperienced team in the SEC. You can't play 9 walk-ons and 20 plus freshmen and compete in this conference. Today's game was much closer than it should have been with what Jones put on the field.

we have talent but inexperienced talent is just a notch above poor talent

Vandy only has one high-caliber player - they suck big time, too. UK is - well - UK. I would put them at the bottom. We are definitely in the bottom three of the SEC's manure pile. But at least we are a whole turd while UK is just the nut in the turd.

Damn the truth hurts. Hopefully it'll change in the next few years for both teams with recruiting.
