Do you have a hustle?

Curious - how is this 'theft'? If I purchase something legally I have ownership of the property. How I dispose of it is up to my digression.

If theft is buying something cheaply for the purpose of exchange at a higher price, then it would seem there would be a boatload of people with problems. First thing that comes to mind is the guy that just bought the Vince Lombardi sweater for $.50 at a garage sale and sold it at auction for $43,000.

A person that has purchased an item from one store legally but then returned it to a different retailer to obtain a store credit aka money.

That person has made a false presentation to the returning store that they bought the item there originally aka fraud and then obtained money for it aka theft. Theres really no other way to paint it.

Buying something legally and then selling it to someone else legally is completely different. You aren't making any false representation. You own it. No fraud, no theft.

With all that said, I don't really care what was done lol, just pointing out that it is theft, that's all.

not trying to be argumentative. I was curious on the logic behind it. Since you say you've had legal dealings in this area I wanted to see what the though process was to come up with theft. Its one of those things that appears stupid but once you get into the reasoning behind it there is logic.

So as I read it, its the act of returning it that changes it from a transaction to theft. If Mr A had purchased it from Goodwill for $1 and then sold it to Mr B for $20, that's a legal transaction. But Mr A purchasing it from Goodwill for $1 to return it to Retailer B for $20 is fraudulent only because you didnt buy the object there. Mr B could use the object or he might resell it, just like Retailer B will do. As someone pointed out, isnt this the same as returning a gift for money? Yes, the key is "gift" but it seems that's a little grey where anyone could call it "a gift". Or what if you found that same unopened package in your deceased grandfather's garage? Its not a gift, you didnt buy it but have no use for it so you take it back for money. You're not attempting fraud, you'll liquidating assets for distribution to heirs.

It's all about your specific intent.

I can't remember the last time schools there were closed this long. 1993 we were out for an ice storm but don't remember it being this long

its been awhile since they've been closed like this. They were talking about the same thing on tv today. We've had some snow here and there over the past years but it usually melts away in a day or so. This is different where the ice has stayed. I think there are roads up in Joelton that just havent got sun on them and there's nothing to melt it thus Davidson Co being out.

I'm now making furniture. Well .....sort of. I made one table but now I am getting requests. I'm trying to sell this one.

BKB, what is the length and width?

I don't need a table, but I do get asked about various items frequently and will keep this table in mind.

You guys should know that my tenants told me the dryer outlet didn't work.....

Anyone wanna guess why it didn't work?

This particular table is 9'2" x 48" x 31" tall. It is big.... As I have 4 kids and a wife. But I am going to build another one with a little different design.

Bc the dryer actually didn't work?
That's been my experience with tenants.

Even better. They had the wrong cord. I guess they thought I should change my outlet to match their cord.

On their move in inspection they put "the dryer outlet needs to be addressed immediately".

Lol. It is usually something like that. Were they accepting of your answer?

I'm amazed at how few people know that changing out the whip cord on a dryer takes 3 minutes.

Idk it was delivered through a third party property manager. As soon as she told me they claimed the outlet wasn't working, I sighed and said "did their damn cord fit?"

Tenants are funny. As long as they pay the rent and don't build a meth lab, you have a good one.

I have a company that just handles my property for a 9% fee. I literally only collect a check, and it takes the headache out of being a landlord by a lot. I don't know your situation, but I would highly recommend rental agencies, if they have a good reputation of course.
