Do you think Bruce Pearl will ever be a head coach at the college level again?

None of the guys on that list had even remotely comparable accomplishments to Pearl at TN. Pearl took a basketball graveyard and made it a top 10 program. Some BCS level school will scoop him up fast when his penalty expires. Book it.

This is awesome news!!!! Bruce works in Knoxville for 3 years, then he will get to come back and rebuild our program. He loves UT, and who could not appreciate what he has done for our Men's Basketball program. I am going to miss him coaching for us, but it will only be temporary.

My...Lord.

This is pathetic.

You want the guy who almost brought the program down? I think Baylor should hire Dave Bliss again.

Why would you want to hire a liar, cheater, and someone who has taken very little responsibility for what he has done? Is one elite eight really that important to you? Is there no integrity?

A cult of personality's always kind of a scary thing. And that's exactly what Bruce developed in Knoxville.

Not that surprising that he's sticking around town for awhile.

OK, first of all, I'm not saying that he's coming back to UT, or that he ought to come back to UT.

But with all the anger about perceived NCAA unfairness in penalizing various college programs (I'm trying to be sort of neutral in tone here), I can well imagine a scenario where in a couple of years, some college programs are so disgusted that they give the finger to the NCAA and pretty much do what they want, including hiring coaches who have gotten a show-cause penalty.

I don't expect this to happen, but then revolutions do tend to catch folks off guard.

I think BP will resurface at a smaller division 1 school somewhere. He'll be successful and land a better job but nothing big time. That or he'll get out of coaching altogether and do tv or something like that.

According to govolsxtra he just took a VP job with Hackney and is staying. So yes, he will be coaching again in three years. If I were to guess the team I would say its the Lady Vols when Pat steps down. They have great admiration for each other regardless of the issues Bruce inflicted on himself and the program.

I fully understand the mutual admiration between Pat and Bruce, but no way in hell would she or our administration allow the Lady Vols to turn into a dog and pony show. Frankly, I don't think his skill set would translate to the women's game.

Bruce Pearl, former coach of the Tennessee Volunteers, received a three-year show-cause penalty for lying to the NCAA regarding major recruiting violations. Each of his assistants received one-year show-cause orders.

It was not a major violation. It was a BBQ... good grief.

Surely no other coach has ever lied. Pearl should have followed the example of some of you posters on this board who have never lied in your whole life. LMAO

Seriously, if you don't understand the severity of lying to an NCAA agent during a major investigation, then you are naive. No one will dispute that other coaches lie, but how many have lied to an investigator's face in that fashion? There's a big difference.

Do you not think Calhoun lied when he told investigators
that it wasn't him who answered or read the text messages to and from the sports agent who was paying the kid to go to UConn? It was on his personal cell phone.

Did investigators whip out his cell phone records with the incriminating texts and ask if he sent them?

Lying to the NCAA is the same thing as telling a 4 year old that there's a Santa Claus. Hilarious. Pearlophiles are a damn trip.
