Yeah.

Even though I'm rooting against it...

It's hard to punish them because they play in same division as the only undefeated team in the country. They lost by 3 in overtime. If they played in any other conference, they'd probably be undefeated. Unless they played LSU OOC. In which case they'd probably have 1 loss and win their conference.

Agree.

They are one of the two best teams in the country.

It's that simple.

It's fair, Ok State does not play a conference championship game either.

The solution would be to have the best two SEC teams play in the conference championship game or look what happen to the PAC-12.

you can't do that.

and what happened to the Pac 12 was because the heads above the others better team in the South is serving a bowl ban due to cheating

...the problem is they're still very good, and they're still beating teams and effecting the records of teams even if their own doesn't count

Yes. They're the 2 best teams in CFB. I hate it. I'd rather see 2 other teams play. But it is what it is.

Last 5 SEC championships have decided the national championship. Might as well throw in the second best SEC team to make it a game.

No. A team that cannot win its own conference should not be the national champion. They probably are the second best team, but they lost to LSU when they played them. I look at it as a first round playoff game and they lost. I really have no interest in watching Alabama get beat again by LSU. If I was voting (assuming OSU beats Oklahoma), I would vote OSU number 2.

What if SEC second best could beat any and all the other conference champions. I think you want the 2 best teams in the NC, not the two best conference champions.

So if Oregon finished with one loss and won the Pac 12, they should be in the championship? They would have had the best resume and won their conference if there only loss came to LSU. Why should they get a pass just for losing to LSU OOC?

Or would you skip over them too for Oklahoma State who lost to Iowa State?

Nope, I don't think it's fair. I'd rather see a conference champion be there. One of the reasons I'd like to see a play-off system with only conference champions in the mix. If you want to win the National Championship, first win your conference.

I don't think it's fair, but if the two best teams are to play in the NCG, it's hard to disagree with Bama and LSU.

There's no right or wrong answer. It's all based on who 'votes' for the 2nd best team. So really no team has a beef, they knew what they signed up for 12 years ago.

I think it is fair now that LSU has won. If LSU had lost and Bama made with LSU not, that would not have been fair. Purpose of the BCS is to pit the two best teams. Nowhere does it say that it will pit only conference champions against each other.

That is a good point. However, I would probably vote for Oklahoma State since LSU had already beaten Oregon.
