What about Stanford, they won big last week!
they play a team actually ranked?
(bigger issue: Stanford can't make it unless undefeated; Southern Cal doesn't count as ANYTHING at ALL in the computer standings....beating a good team, strength of schedule, opponents success, etc, they factor in to none of it)
Yep, if Stanford doesn't make a BCS bowl because of USC not being eligible for the rankings and thus not counting in SOS, it will be an epic screw job.
As for OP, same thing I keep saying... There needs to be a rule saying only conference champions are eligible for the BCS title game, but under the current rules it's the two best teams and Alabama and LSU are the two best. Bama had their shot against LSU at home and lost and that should have been the end of it.
Best part is that if Bama wins the championship game there would be yet another split national championship in the BCS era and further shoot its credibility all to hell.
Bama might get to play for title game, and they didnt even goto the sec championship game?
If Oklahoma State had not lost to Iowa State, is this even an issue?
Does Oklahoma State get a pass for playing against Iowa State the very day the players found out about the deaths of Budke and Serna?
If someone who worked for you came in and said told you that someone close to them had just died, would you hold them to the same standard that day that you usually hold them to?
Of course, this hinges on how close Budke and Serna were to the program and the players; from all accounts, though, it appears they were very close and very involved with plenty of the football players.
Yes.
Nothing states that you have to win your conference championship in order to play for all of the marbles.
Using such logic, those opposing Bama playing would have been happy with Wisconsin playing OK State had Georgia beaten LSU.
The fact is that Bama and LSU are the two very best teams in college football. Until a playoff is instituted, you can't get caught up in a playoff mentality, when everything is sewt up against a playoff.
