Dobbs is starting!

Just wonder if Butch played Dobbs because he preferred to save Ferguson. After all the game was a total wash. Not likely but not out of the realm either...

Watched Riley play acouple times inHS. He is the real deal. Dobbs looked good today and I hope either he or Riley starts at Mizzou...Butch is gonna have a serious QB battle on his hands whether its now or in the. Spring/bowl prep. Might as well get it rolling IMO. Trust that Butch will make the right decision for UT.

And when Dobbs throws his first INT (and he will) it will be interesting how the pundits chime in then.

This offense is much better suited for Dobbs. He can run the ball. I will be really pissed if he is not starting next week.

Like I said in another thread, the best case scenario is that Dobbs takes the job and runs with it. That's optimistic, but I don't see how anyone could hope otherwise. Entering spring without a clear frontrunner at the QB position would mean that we didn't finish the season on a good note.

It's Josh's opportunity to show the Vol Nation that he has what it takes to be the guy, and I hope for the team's sake he leads us to a solid bowl game. If that's the case, there shouldn't be much debate over who is the clear frontrunner heading into spring practice.

I appreciate CBJs decisiveness and willingness to take calculated risks with personnel moves.

Doubt we'd be seeing Dobbs this early if dools or Fulmer.

yall are already saying Dobbs is the future? Give Riley a chance too

If Dobbs leads us to victories and plays well, why would he not be the future? He's the one with the opportunity to prove it now. If Dobbs plays like a stud, wouldn't it be detrimental to the team to not commit to him on some level? That's not to say that he shouldn't have competition from Ferguson, but he's the one who has a chance to prove it now, fair or not. The best case scenario for the 2013 season is that Dobbs takes the job and solidifies his status as our QB of the future. If he doesn't, then the door opens for Riley to come in and show us what he has.

The bottom line is that if Dobbs plays well, then we likely win and go bowling. If Dobbs doesn't, then we may end up 6-6 or worse. Which would you rather have as a Vol fan? Let's hope the kid is legit, and so far he's done nothing to prove that he's not.

When will we have a running back who will not be caught from behind in the open field?? Hopefully next year. We need a lot of speed in the next two classes.
Indeed. We need speed on both sides of the ball and special teams. There isn't anywhere we don't need more speed.

In the post game presser he said it was a coaching decision. That was all he said on the matter, so I think it's possible that they're saving him. But, who knows?

Saving him for what? You play your best option. They wouldn't give Dobbs a substantial head start just so they could save Riley to beat him out next year. That's not logical.

From all reports, we had a 2A and 2B on the depth chart. 2A couldn't go (health or coaches decision), so 2B goes out and surpassed expectations. I wasn't in any QBs corner before this game, but Dobbs being successful is the best case scenario, at this point.

It's like 1994 and 2004 all over again. People pick their favorites and stick by them. Hopefully for the sake of the season Dobbs turns out to be the guy. I don't see why anyone would hope otherwise. That would mean that we ended up with a successful latter part of 2013. If he doesn't, then it's Ferguson's (or Worley, Peterman, etc) task to beat him out in the spring.

Dools? No way, but Fulmer wasn't afraid to start a true freshman (see C. Clausen, Schaeffer, Ainge for reference).

Has he lead us to victories yet? No he played 2 quarters of football. Lets see what happens at Mizzou, if he leads us for a good road win then I am on board but for now I want to see what Riley can do as well

Riley Cooper really? Come on Danielson!

Was anyone else super annoyed that Danielson and freaking Lundquist kept reminding us of our failures vs Alabama?

Aren't these guys supposed to be neutral? I mean do they not think recruits among others are watching their broadcasts as well?

I know if they ever did a game for me in Knoxville I certainly wouldnt roll out the welcome wagon! I hope Butch and Co. took offense to this as well!!!:banghead2:
