“Pollution”? The environmental review is for a freshwater deluge spray. You know, the same stuff that comes out of your kitchen tap?
There is indeed a need for environmental reviews; but like everything else, once a bureaucracy comes into being, it eventually comes to exist only for its own power and starts taking things to absurd levels.
Just to be clear, FWS is holding up SpaceX simply for wanting to pour out simple water into sand. The EXACT SAME THING that happens every time a thundershower comes over.
An inch of rain over an acre is about 27,000 gallons. The water deluge system reportedly uses around 350,000 gallons of water in a localized area, in a shorter period of time. I’d say it’s reasonable to ask what the effects to marine life might be.

Putting aside the basic absurdity of even questioning the effects of pouring water into a beach 🙄…..they have still had since April when Elon announced the deluge plans.
So even if one made a point of concession that the question wasn’t idiotic on face value, (a concession I will not grant) does it REALLY take six months PLUS to come up with an answer?

350000 gallons of water then would be about 13 inches of rain. A tropical storm can drop 15 to 20 inches of rain, not just in a single acre; but over hundreds of square miles.
It is apparently a miracle then that anything at all is still alive along the gulf coast 🙄

SpaceX has installed the FTS on the booster today and rumors running rampant that FAA has granted Starship’s launch license and that we may have a launch attempt next Wednesday. Still awaiting official confirmation
