I figured that judging from Moms twitter, should be interesting

If I was her father that is exactly the advice I would give her. I would rather she be a bench warmer at a high academic school than a starter at a lesser school. If your kid could go to Harvard, Vandy, Stanford.... would you advise them to pick the local community college? The University of Tennessee is not a community college for ball players in Georgia! I think most will get my point! UT is a great school.... but if I had a choice ??? I would send my kid to the highest academic school I could. Sports is not a lifetime job for most people!🤔

In the past I would agree 100% but now days its more about who you know than what you know therefore depending upon what she really wants to do in life, the school (imo) wouldn't make that much of a big deal. Kara Lawson (UT grad) is working in the same field as Rosalyn Gold-Onwude (Stanford Grad) and Kara is at a higher position in the field as one of the lead analysts in womens (and she does some of the male games) basketball. Is that Stanford education really that much better if its in a common field as lets say Journalism or Communications? I'm glad she (Dodson) followed her heart and went where "she" wanted to go and I hope it is truly where she wanted to go and not because her dad "made her go"! Still like where we are headed recruiting wise! This is no fault of Holly or the coaching staff this is simply a young lady playing where she wanted to play and we as a fanbase has to accept that and not blame it on the coaches when they truly have tried!

I don't understand why some fans are being negative and blaming it on the coaching staff. For the last month or so it has been rumored that Dodson was headed to Stanford. I don't understand why some fans are upset. All we can do is move on and hope we can land one or two of our remaining targets. That's her dream school and there's nothing that we can do about it. Recruiting is way better than it was last season. We are already getting unofficial visits from top 2018 recruits.

...and gets accepted to a school of the quality of Stanford, you don't pass up that opportunity. Stanford is harder to get into than Harvard, believe it or not. Of course state college grads can do well in life--and many, if not most, do. You are right--in some fields a UT degree is just as good as a Stanford degree. With top schools, a lot of the benefit is the people and contacts you make. Still, it would be nice if we had an academic reputation like, say, UVA or Michigan, two of the best state schools in the country. UVA used to be terrible in most sports--but in recent years their overall athletic program has been soaring (except for women's basketball, ironically). Getting ahead nowadays often requires a graduate degree in a lot of fields. There are a lot of ways to succeed. I thought Warlick did a decent/good job of recruiting her first two or so years--but two years ago we signed, what, only two guards? And last year was an unprecedented disaster. We need another couple of good players in this class and hope we can get them.

I hope we land at least two more. I do not understand why ppl are so shocked she chose Stanford that has been on this board for a while. Now if we can land Patterson , west brook and McKinney we are solid.

I tend to totally discount a boarder (pineybluff vol) who had an anti-female animated picture to define himself on the Tennessee women's blog for years . And of course it it was only "locker room" humor and we don't understand that such humor could impact recruiting.

John, maybe pineybluffvol would discount one who discounts and then crows about it.His opinion is no more or less valid than yours. As for "locker room" talk,I fail to recall any instance ever in which a recruit says that he or she won't go to this or that school because of "locker room" talk by a fan. Maybe such talk would factor in,but,if so,it would be minutely. And,I would say that any recruit has heard much worse than anything from this board or fan base.

Go Lady Vols! We've got a good team lined up, and any of the remaining highly touted players available would be wise to think hard about the Lady Vols!

Wow, you really know how to hurt a guy. My picture has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with the discussion. My opinion is mine and mine alone, you should express your opinion with out trying to be a critic of what picture I use...how childish!
