Does anyone understand the holdup on stimulus?

It's going to be four months before the vaccines are out in the public enough to combat COVID.

4 months is the projected timeline for when a vaccine is available for anybody that wants it. The combating of the virus is immediate. There should be fewer cases in the next few weeks than there would have been without any vaccine. Christmas and other holiday get together are going to push the numbers higher. After the holiday surge, what will really jump start the economy will be the trend. Eradication is still several quarters away. Watch for Biden to take credit for licking it even though everything possible will be in place before he sets foot in the Oval Office for his first nap.

Assuming there are no significant derailments, COVID should be under control in the late summer.

Some are saying the Democrats blocked $1200 now I’m reading the Republicans will “only approve $600” but that doesn’t line up with what all the Republicans are saying.

What’s going on here?

Because it’s not really about the “people” or the economy. It’s about funding each party’s special interests. Hold up is to make sure their pigs are being fed.

Honestly, I dont think most are even concerned over eradication.

This will not truly happen until mass gatherings are back. We've a several-month-long gulf to cross beforehand.

Ha. More like giving my wife’s mom an IOU because the government is killing her trade. Not everyone who’s struggling is struggling because they’re lazy. Gov’t needs to either pay up or get the hell out of the way.
I prefer the get out of the way option.

Well... that option is pretty much shot in the head starting Jan 20th.

The fear mongering will not go away, the gov has successfully lied to the majority of Americans about the chinese virus. Once kamala gets in and ga steals the senate seats, she might as well work for the gubment.
With the new taxes we are gonna see, we are all going to be working for the gubbamint

Me and her both! I’m out her bailing out businesses (on a very small scale, but still hard for me to do) that the government is choking out. It’s infuriating. Pretty soon we’ll all be broke and the Democratic senate will approve a stimulus from the Democratic house that the sheep will praise Kamala and AOC like a bunch of hobos receiving a loaf of bread from the millionaire down the street.

I don’t want that. I just want our businesses to survive and right now I could use a little help from Uncle Sam. Actually, I’d probably get more help from a go fund me. All I’d have to do is post a pic of my dog to make people feel sorry for me and be like “help feed Natchez :(“ boom, instant stimulus

I am down over $75K in my business. Still do not want more stimulus. Good Luck

My wife is hiring for a job in her group and has gotten very little interest. Full time work paying around $65k for a jr position. It's been in VA and Atl for 2 weeks. We're having the same issue with multiple warehouses around the country. Not sure where these unemployed live

Yes, unemployed when I was young lad taking economics classes, meant you were looking for work.

I wouldn't read too much in that. Most of the places where you see signs up are advertising for minimum wage jobs, which produce $15,000/year assuming a person works 40hrs/week. That's $5,000 below the poverty threshold for a family of 3 in Tennessee.

Wrong. Every major manufacturing facility for which I have contacts at are wanting people. None of those jobs are minimum wage.

Many of our warehouses start between $17-20/hr. Or if you can drive a truck you can get work anywhere

I am in the restaurant business in Georgia. One of the lowest wage rates in the company. We start dish washers out at $15 an hour. No experience required. The only job that pays close to minimum wage is host. That's around $10 and is usually filled by 16 year olds.

The lack of drivers is one of the biggest hurdles for trucking companies to overcome who are trying to grow their business. That, and the ridiculous cost of liability insurance due to our sue-happy society.
