Does Hart suffer from Tunnel Vision?

OK name one coach that is a realistic possible hire (you know that wants the job) that you can guarantee will either out coach or out recruit them? There are none.

No one knows for sure who wants the job. That's a silly stipulation. Strong didn't want the job until you offered it to him and then only if you were going to pay him a certain amount of money. For that right price, you should be able to get Gruden, Petersen, or Patterson. Hell, even if you can't, you should at least try.

My question to Rucker yesterday was would Strong be a realistic candidate at Bama, Fla, LSU, UGA?? Of Course I got no response, but I already know the answer.

Bama - No.

Florida - Yes, they apparently don't mind hiring former DC's (plus, I'd compare where Muschamp was when they hired him to where Strong is now)

LSU - I think it's safe to say their list would be similar to ours, although he might be farther down the list.

UGA - see my LSU comment.

How do you know they didn't reach out Petersen, Patterson, or Gruden back channel? How do you know that they told polite sorry not interested? You are assuming that Tennessee didn't try when you only 5% of what is going on.

Sometimes the posters on the board are the type of guys who form lynching parties only to find out the guy was innocent after they hung him.

I making statement that of the Current Names being talked about for the Coaching Job at UT. Strong has the exp in the SEC. Not Gundy, Fisher, or even Gruden. Strong has the drive to work hard for UT. I hope he is the next Coach!!!!

Based on how close we came to winning against Georgia, USCe, and the first half of Florida with Dooley.

I'm just afraid we regress losing Bray, Hunter, and Patterson, two of which I'm fairly positive will leave. Hopefully you are right, but I am in see it to believe it mode now.

Idk, until proven otherwise, I have very little confidence in Hart...Pat Summit handling started it all. For two weeks after Dooley was canned, there was zero word coming out about this search and now all of sudden we know every tom dick and harry he's interviewing. ?? This search is odd at best. I sure hope he knows what he's doing and is going to get us a winner but I'm still in wait and see mode.

Nothing wrong with that.

Does it really matter if Bray leaves? Worley, Peterman, and incoming Freshman Ferguson are just as talented

Why one earth would you assume that they had reached out? There's no evidence. If Hart had spent any considerable time wooing Petersen or Patterson, we would know about it. And there's no way we reached out and they just rejected us outright if we were prepared to pay them 5-6 million dollars. They would have at least talked to us. One of them would have. Assuming otherwise is much more of a fantasy than anything written on here about Gruden wanting the job and Hart passing on him.

Some very realible posters (inside AD) I followed since CDD was fired have been locked on Strong. Just looks like Strong has been Hart's bench mark for some time. I just cant see Fl, Ala, Ga, or SC looking at the Big East for a HC. Continued fan base division ahead with Strong.??????

Strong has more exp in the SEC then GRUDEN, GUNDY, OR BIMBO FISHER
Strong will do great at UT, D wins games in the SEC

Now if his defense could just figure out how to stop UConn or Syracuse.

He was Flordia's assistant head coach and their defensive coordinator so it's not like he wouldn't be able to find a job in the SEC.

well I'd say you're wrong considering FL looked to the Mountain West for their big time head coach. Big East > Mountain West

But an undefeated season at Utah>>>>>a 10-2 season at Louisville in today's Big East.

Meyer's two seasons at BG: (BG was 2-9 the year before)
8-3
9-3
Meyer's two seasons at Utah:
10-2 (Wins against Cal [when they were still a goodish team] and a ranked Oregon team) (losses away at Texas A&M and home to New Mexico)
12-0 (3 non-conference wins against Texas A&M, Ariz. and North Carolina)

Easy to see why people around the country thought FL was making the right decision.

Charlie Strong's three seasons at Louisville: (Louisville was 4-8 the season before.)
7-6
7-6
10-2 (with losses to Connecticut and Syracuse....SMH)

Easy to see why some people are nervous about a Strong hire. There's potential for this to go badly.

I should add, I'm not anti-Strong, but there's no comparison between his career and Urban Meyer's. None.

If gruden's anal cavity is considered a tunnel, then yea I'd say he had tunnel vision.

So if we would have hired him 3 years ago you would be ok with it? Seeing as he was a coordinator in a major conference just like Florida's and Georgia's coaches?

Nobody inside the UTAD, aside from Jon Gilbert and Dave Hart know what is going through Hart's head, not even our own Skeeter, here on VN. Everyone is speculating with no real information other than their own desires and opinions.
