Does Kirby Get Fined

The officials badly bungled that DPI call, but it was an abjectly horrible call. It didn’t make them look good, but picking up the flag was the right thing to do imo.

Kirby’s whine and cry routine about nobody gave us a chance and they tried to rob us yada yada…it just comes across as so petty to me.

But they wouldn’t have picked up the flag had it not been the delay from the fans trashing the field.

Texas should have gotten an unsportsmanlike conduct for the fans. Refs were fearing for their lives.

Kirby has no right to complain about officals when the flag came out for no reason to begin with. “Tried to rob us” give me a break. Everyone knows your the conference darling now that bama is not a dynasty anymore
The guy that shoved the MSU QB and got no penalty and the SEC office in hindsight said last week he should have been penalized.

The ball was in the air and there was contact, initially the defender extended both arms and each hand hit the receivers shoulder pads. He was OBVIOUSLY hitting the player, NOT making a play on the ball. So once called a group discussion should not overturn a non reviewable EITHER. Did the original ref take it back or did the big guy tally thoughts and override him? Really needs clarification.

He will get fined, he doesn't care if he gets fined, and he was right to say what he said.

SEC refs have been horrible. Tennessee has had our own bad experience with them. Heck, everyone is dealing with it.

EDIT: I was talking about the Texas game.

Regardless of the call , the Dawgs D welcomed Texas to the Big Boy league of college football. Welcome to the SEC horns.

The receiver ran into him and extended his arms as well. Our tight ends have been called for offensive pass interference for far less on several occasions.

I believe they said it wasn’t reviewed; rather, the refs had time to discuss b/c of the clean up. I take no issue with another ref coming over and saying “the wr initiated the contact”. The only question is if that conversation happened b/c someone looked at the Jumbotron or if they saw it live.
The problem is we've seen it a million times: one official throws the flag, they come together (as they did on this bad call,) and make a decision.

They DID THAT like all penalties, announced the call, and that should be it.

The problem is: they did it again and that's not how it works.

If it's a bad call, it's discussed, and the flag is picked up...... that's fine.

If it's a bad call, it's discussed, and the bad call stands and is announced...... the refs don't get a "do over" because of boos or delays.

This is 100% on the refs, not for making a bad call, but for not following the protocol for calling games. You simply don't get a "do over" after it is announced.

Yep. I lived in Norman for 5 years and that's exactly the way it was in that conference. Huge reason aTm jumped ship. Ask any fanbase in that conference and they'll all confirm the bias and favoritism. Thought bama vs Texas for top blue blood status would be interesting to see, but I think saban being gone will let Texas assume the golden child role a lot earlier and easier than I expected. Just one more team that will get zebra help any time we play them. Don't wait. Start Texas hate early.

Texas-Tennessee for the SEC championship would be entertaining.

I had a freeze frame with the defender’s arms extended making contact and the receiver’s arms not engsged. Just can’t get it from tv to phone to post. Slomo the play and you will see the receiver planting his foot on the 4 of the yard number pushing to his left to avoid contact towards oob as contact is initiated. That is the video evidence IF IF IF it was reviewable. If you are going to allow do overs coaches should be able to request on field verification meetings by officials when replay is not legal. Really bad precedent.
