If the Cards beat Rutgers and run the table this season do they deserve a shot to play for the National Championship? Most people are quick to judge thier schedule and the fact the play in the Big East as reason they don't deserve a NC chance. I disagree. If they finish the season undefeated they deserve the chance. You can't fault them for playing in the Big East instead of the SEC or Big 10. They played Miami before they folded and will have beaten West Virigina, Rutgers and a decent Pitt team.

They'd lose 3 games with an SEC schedule, but I think they'll get their chance at a BCS title if they win out.

That's my problem with fans saying they would lose 3 games with a SEC or Big 10 schedule. That shouldn't be factored into it at this point. Would Florida State cruise through a perfect conference season in thier glory days if they was in the SEC or Big 10? No but no one said they shouldn't play for national championships. I'm not a UofL fan by any means but since we are not NC contenders I'm pulling for them since everyone is dissing them.

I'm not saying they don't deserve a chance to play for the National Championship if they finish 12-0. I think they do deserve it.

But they would lose at least 3 games with an SEC schedule. Like it or not, it's just a fact of life.

Oh I agree they would lose 3-4 games in the SEC, no doubt about that.

If you think they would lose 2-3 in the SEC then they don't deserve the NCG. If you think they'd only lose one then maybe. My vote is no until further notice.

If there are no other one-loss SEC or Pac-10 teams, then yes I think an undefeated Louisville or Rutgers deserved a shot at the national title.

Actually, it's not a fact of life. It's not even a SIMPLE FACT. They MAY lose 3 games in the SEC, but its far from fact.

Louisville deserves it, IMO. And I actually think Louisville will WIN the NC this season. It will remind us of the 2002 NC game.

Two problems with the Ville's exclusion:
1. They are in a BCS conference
2. At least they tried to schedule one tough out of conference game. It is not their fault the U is terrible this year.

Agreed...they deserve it more than if WV had went undefeated.

If Florida can come out of Atlanta in early December and still have only one loss... I think they'd deserve the shot. Same for Auburn if Arkansas can lose two games before the SECCG.

But, if Louisville goes undefeated, why not. I'd rather see them get a shot than a rematch of Ohio State and Michigan like some are suggesting.

Sparked my curiosity about their game against Miami FL... Louisville shredded them for 31 points, and Miami is the 6th best defense in the country.

I agree. They are in a BCS conference and beat a nonconference team that was supposed to be good. I wouldn't even have a problem with Rutgers in the NCG. Boise State on the other hand would be a big beef.

Either of those teams coming out of the BE would get crushed by tOSU. They will have earned the opportunity.

If the Big East is going to have an automatic bid, an undefeated team from that conference should land above a one loss team from the other BCS conferences.

Louisville wouldn't lose three games in the Big 10. The Big 10 has three good teams. The Cards could probably manage to topple one of them: Wisconsin.

Agreed. Ohio State will cruise to the NC in my opinion. I predict Michigan will implode. Louisville won't have the athletes to hang with the Buckeyes and they will get slammed in the second half.

Louisville has as much offensive NFL talent as anybody in the country.

Too bad their defense is "teh suxors."

The Cards offensive weapons are just as good or better than Ohio States in my opinion.

The question is wether or not they still deserve an automatic bid. After this season with UofL, SUofNJ, WVU and Pitt emerging, nobody will touch the issue. Especially considering the national media base throwing a fit given the Big East player coming from the greater New York area.

They have the automatic bid. That ends the discussion as far as I'm concerned.
