or is it just hard to get kids to MSU? i mean he wins games and he's a damn good OC and i guess he develops kids pretty good but MSU is at the bottom of the SEC again in recruiting i thought after last yr they might be able pick it up

im just glad UF didnt hire him like i wanted when the search was on we'd be getting killed by FSU in recruiting right now

Mullen has a reputation for not being a "people person", but he's a good coach.

Success in Starkville will lead to success somewhere else.

Mullen is a great coach ,and I just can't see State holding onto him forever. If the right oppurtunity comes, Mullen will bolt. I'd love to see Mullen stay there. It's a hard sell for any recruit to play in Starkville.

It's a hard sell for any human being to visit Starkville

I have been told he is one of the most arrogant pricks on the recruiting trail. He has burnt a lot of bridges in Mississippi, and Houston Nutt has owned him recruiting the state. Mullen better get out if he wins this year because the talent is about to have a serious drop off in the future years.

He is very straightforward. There's no sugarcoating with him unlike with a lot of other coaches on the recruiting trail. I agree that after this upcoming season, there's gonna be a serious talent drop off which comes at a good time for UT since we play them in 2012 and 2013.

If I remember correctly, that Miami job was his to loose, and he turned off the trustees so much that one of them said "he thinks he invented the game" but I guess they had no problem with 5'5 wannabe's

From what I understand Mullen is one of the only SEC coaches that refuses to have his top players paid and that really turns off recruits. It actually held away Cam Newton. It's good that he's honest and doesn't want to break the rules but it really hurts recruiting.

Yeah. You would be surprised at how many top players get paid to play. I know former Alabama player Jimmy Johns he told me a lot. It's crooked. Mullen refuses to have them paid tho, maybe only because he's new.

if you think any program is squeaky clean then you're a bit naive. Trying to say he's getting beat just because he's clean is a bit weak too

I'm just saying he's doing everything he can to keep State's program clean which included not giving the Newton's what they wanted so you know he has to be turning down other recruits who are wanting money.
