In this day and age, RBs should try to have the path that Sampson has had here. Being the bell cow for three or four years before going pro is horrible for a rb. Injuries and wear and tear limit their NFL value. Unless they are a can’t miss monster, they are getting small rookie contracts and the ones that have already been heavily used never make it to the second contract. If Sampson blows up next year, he can go to the NFL, get through his rookie deal and have a chance at a better career.
Being the dude for 1 year is not frowned upon at all anymore by scouts. It’s an asset.
